After last week's near miss on some hogs and does, I finally selected a productive stand today, perfectly set up with a 25 yard shot from a tripod about 10' up. Well I missed my second trad shot on game ever, over the top of a nice boar around 6 today, after watching him a while. Well as darkness was settling in, a huge buck walked in straight for the feeder, and I prepared myself for the shot. AIM LOWER, I thought. It was also pretty dang dark. Some heavy gunfire on the other side of the ranch spooked the buck and he walked off into the bush. I thought I heard him in the brush behind me, but realized it was another hog. I grunted a few times and sure enough another pig strolls out into the near darkness, and I draw and fire. He immediately drops and stays put, squirming slightly. I got down on the ground and could see the 700 gr GT Trad 7595 with a single bevel Girzzly hit him dead center of his left shoulder as he quartered away, traveling up into his neck and most likely his spinal cord. I shot him again with a Magnus through the lungs and cut the heart to put him out for good. I was/am elated to finally get my first trad kill! Tomorrow I will be back in that stand for mr. buck or a doe and any hogs in the vicinity. Pics to follow....
