Theres a video in the how to put it doesnt work.

Put the insert into the carbon arrow and glue the aluminum shaft over the carbon shaft to reinforce. Only time you would do it the other way is if you needed an arrow longer than a full length carbon.

What I do is find a aluminum arrow shaft that the ID is perfect for the OD of the carbon shaft like the Easton 2117 fits perfectly over a Gold Tip Trad 35/55 shaft.
I cut the length that I want which in my case was 1" of the Aluminum shaft.
Chamfer both ends of the aluminum piece to make life easier.
I then take the aluminum piece & have it 1/2" onto the carbon shaft, then take my insert with a point to help get everything set up into the carbon shaft.
run a thin bead of super glue around the carbon shaft just behind the aluminum piece & quickly shove it home with the insert.
Wait a few minutes then remove the insert with the point & glue it as you normally would.
All of my G.T. Trads are set up like that & I've hit concrete with a few "not intentionally" & not even a hint of damage to the tip end of the shaft.

I slide my aluminum footing over the shaft then put the insert in. Then slide the footing down to the back of the insert and put a little super glue around the back end of the footing. Dont't know if that is the proper way but it works for me.
