Having any luck out there this year? I've been out quite a few times so far this year, but haven't been able to close the deal. Any pics to show? My buddy said these heads are a gimmick and I haven't been able to prove him wrong yet!

Nothing gimmicky about cutting an 1 9/16 or 2 inch hole thru something...they loose a lot of liquid and go down quick.
Tell him to look at the pics on their site.

I looks like the concave design along with the overall length of the head can make for an entrance and exit sometimes much larger than the width of the head especially on angled shots.

Do a search. There are a lot of die-hard Simmons fans out there. I really want to try mine, but just can't get them as sharp as I'd like, close, but not quite. Shooting a big broadhead like the Tree Shark, even the Interseptor, from bows around #50, I want them scary sharp. I'm still working at it though. I'll be going with my Sasquatch or Magnus 1 til then.
There was a thread once with pics of game taken with Simmons and it was quite impressive, and graphic. If Stevie Wonder bowhunted he'd be shootin' Tree Sharks! Lol!

Hang in there Toney and you will get your chance.  I've shot two this season with a Simmons Interceptor.  They make big holes.

I knew Doug would be along on this one. Lol! His handle says it all. While you're here Doug, how do you sharpen yours? I recently got a half dozen Interseptors and finally worked one close to what I want for an edge with the Steel Master. I got it used and don't have instructions for it, so I'm not sure I'm going at it correctly. I also tried the Wheelie and close but not good enough with that either. They fly beautifully and I want to hunt with them.

Your buddy is dead wrong they are awsome. I have killed over 100 deer with them. Killed 6 so far this year, if it cuts under 1.5" it is for small game. They fly great, make big holes and leave great blood trails. Go to the web site he has pics on there.LCH

Hows it going Danny.  Let me just start off by saying that I am sharpening challenged.  I was really having a time sharpening my broadheads. But recently two things have changed my success rate when it comes to sharpening.  First, I used the Interceptor sharpening tutorial created by Chris Spikes.  I bought the razor's edge and the diamond hones.  Second, when Dave O bought the company he went back to the 20 degree grind on the broadhead edge. It seems that the second owner was using 30 degree grind.  It was explainede to me that the 30 degree grind was cheeper to produce.  But it made them harder to sharpen.  The grind that Dave is using know is the same one that Mr. Jerry used.  The two deer that I have shot this year with the new heads have left good blood trails.

Thanks Doug. Knowing it's a 20 degree grind gives me a better place to start. I have to do everything by hand, no room for grinders and such on the boat.

I killed a good bull this year with a 165gr landshark with the bleeder in.  Hit a little back but the broadhead nearly cut the liver in half.  The bull went less than 200 yards laid down and bled out within 10 minutes.....Shawn

Tony your buddy is probably some knuckle draggen cave man type.Who wouldnt know an excellent broad head design if it hit him in the face.Just my 2 cents.

I killed a nice 10 point this year with a treeshark. The wound was CRAZY large with the agle I shot him. I am now trying interceptors. These heads fly GREAT and I shoot them A LOT. They are tough and I have learned to get them scapel sharp.   BILL

What's the gimmick with a BIG sharp head on the end of an arrow?  45# Quinn Stallion with a 190 grain interceptor.  25 yard shot, 60 yard recovery.  I've killed  a lot of deer with the Simmons!

Cannot go wrong with a Simmons head no matter which one you chose. I have 6 left out of a dozen that Jerry gave me back in 1990. You do not have to hit the deer just get close it will scare them to death. (Just kidding). I do however have a problem in getting the new ones sharp. It seems that the manufacture lengthened the Ferrell to give the point more strength. Everything I use hits the Ferrell making it almost impossible to sharpen. I like using a Lanskie (sp) but I have to grind off part of the ferrule in order to get the front 1/3 of the head sharp.This is at 20 or 30 degrees. Even the drag tools hit the Ferrell and bounces right over the blade. I tried grinding off the tool a bit and still hits. Not sure what to do.
