I know some of you guys, especially those out west deal with woods fires. Around here it's very rare to have a woods burn. But yesterday there was a pretty good size woods fire about a mile from my home on some land I like to hunt from time to time. We have had an extremely dry fall in fact zero rain since early August and everything is dry dry dry.
My only experience in the woods after a fire was back in 88 when I did some volenteer work in Yellowstone after the big fires. Of course I was there 6 months after the fires and new growth was already coming in and the deer and elk were taking advantage of it.
I'm sure there will be great growth in there next year, but I am more concerned with this year. How long will it take for the Deer and tirkeys to start using it again? Will it be dead until there's new growth?
Any information is much appreciated.
