Went out for a quick hunt and decided to stay on the ground tonight.  I found a likely looking spot in a draw between 2 ridges and stood in front of a big gnarled oak.

About 6pm a spike comes down the ridge to my right and looks like he's going to walk into my pocket.

He finally sees me when he's about 15 yards away and does the head bob.  He decides I'm nothing to worry about but makes a course correction that will take him directly in front of me at about 20 yards.

When his head goes behind a little bush, I come to full draw and when his shoulders come in to view I drop the string.

He spins toward me at the shot and hit him quartering to me, but the shot looks good.  It's getting dark fast and I take-up the trail.

The ground's wet and it's dark, but here's what we're following ....

I find the back 3/4 of my arrow, but there's enough missing that I feel I've gotten into the good stuff and the blood trail stays heavy.

About 100 yards latter of slow going in the dark, here's what I find (the fog is my breath in front of the camera) ...

Here's the entry made by the 4 blade stinger ...

And here's the tip of the broadhead just under the skin after it broke the far side leg at the elbow joint ...

He went down in seconds, the blood trail was great, and I'm glad to have him.  Getting him with the Big Five and on the ground to boot was just great.  Equip. specs., Howard Hill Big Five 57@28 GT 35/55, 100gr brass insert and a 4 blade 150gr. Stinger (arrow weight just over 500gr.)

The obligatory hero pic ....

Man, I thought from that blood trail you hit him with a Meat-Cleaver! Nice job, looks to be real good eating. Beautiful bow also.

Thx guys.

Tim - I do like the Arrow Master quiver quite a bit.  I think it's only the 3rd hunt I've taken it on, but it carries well and stays out of the way.
