Grizzly Bhead weights used on big game
« on: November 07, 2010, 02:04:00 AM »
Anyone out there using the 115 or 130 grain grizzly's on Elk or Moose? Using the 75 grain Premium steel adaptors of coarse would make them 190 or 205 grains.

I've been shooting the old 145 grain bear super razor heads for years and would think that the lighter end of the grizzly heads would work at least as well. Any thoughts on this?

I don't know about those 130gn or less.  However, I have had great results with 160 glue on's on cedar and cedar [spliced] footed shafts along with using them on 75gn steel adapter when used with my carbon GT 5575's.

BTW, I mostly shoot bows between 54-58# @ 28 and I draw 28 1/2" on bows mostly cut to center or just past center.

I'm not sure either of the lighter weight Grizzlys. I shoot the Grizzly 190 El Grandes with great success.

I know a fellow that shot 4 elk with a 53 pound longbow using the older 125 grain right wings with left hand fletched wood arrows.  He said he had no trouble with penetration and had good blood trails.

I have used the 125 (now the 130) a lot with great success, but that was on deer not elk/moose so take it for what it's worth.

The only Grizzly that we've had negative feedback on was the the lightweight green one, now called a 115, so we no longer carry them.  The rest are good to go IMO.

Food for thought, if I were going to set a screw in Grizzly up at around 200 grains I'd lean towards a 160 on a long Magnus aluminum adapter over using the short steel adapter on the lighter head.
