Backpack or Fannypack?

For some of you that hunt with a climber on public land like I do,do you use a backpack or fannypack?

Fanny packs for me, back packs wont allow a climber on your back as well. I use a fanny with my Lone Wolf and it works perfectly. I used to strap a back pack on the back of my climber, I didnt care for that addedc shoulder weight.

What's up, wondering how to carry your extra clothes due to the colder weather? You know I don't use a stand, but I used to. I never needed more then a large fanny pack. It is nice to have "every thing" with you on an all day hunt. Extra clothes I make a bundle and strap it tight, to my fanny pack or the stand.
How you fellas making out over there any way?

I have to pack meat out and extra clothes in and out (when packing meat out I put the extra clothes in a trash bag and leave them in the woods hid good till I go back the next day and get them),
so have no choice.

I use climbers and just put the climber on my back then reach down get the back pack and raise it over my head and shoulders on top top of the climber. Lot of weight and I hate it, but no other choice.

In Jersey you shouldn't need anything more than a fanny pack with shoulder straps.If you need more carrying space you can add a small bag to the climber under the seat with velcro straps(find small bags at any bike store that mount to the cross bars) and that works great for odds and ends.

I have found that a fanny pack works best for me.  I think we all tend to carry too much junk with us and a small fanny pack makes me get serious about what I really need and after a typical hunt I find I did not use even that stuff.  Funny how we fill up the space available.

Fanny packs are fine for early fall day trips when you can get by with a minimum of essentials.  During the late season when hunting the rutting whitetails in cold rain or snow, I wear a backpack.  

Sometimes, carrying "too much junk" gives me peace of mind in case I have to spend a night outdoors. The extra weight is minimal while the items I carry can make for a safe and comfortable hunt in possible rough weather.

Had a Badland Monster fanny it felt strange and pulled on my back and hips wrong. I have since gone to the same companys back packs. I feel they give me less strain as the weight is spread different. I have an BADLANDS REACTOR (with blader) and a 2800, great stuff.

Back packs as I prefer to carry a water bladder as opposed to bottles. Need to keep hydrated.

Day one pack does a fine job carrying  my extra layers and I hang it on the bite of my lonewolf climber

Depends on whether it's early or late season and I need to pack additional clothes/rainwear.  I don't know if they still have them, but Wallyworld used to sell a roomy Fieldline backpack that the lower portion unzips to convert to a fanny pack.  Couldn't beat the price and caused me to retire my army surplus ALICE, which still shines when quarters need to be packed out!

I use a fanny pack with a set of suspenders added. I can tuck my folding stool in the suspender straps on my GFA quiver through the stsnd behind ths suspenders and then strap the stand on my back. The stand hangs down to my fanny, so the fanny pack is in the way otherwise.

This seems to work well for me. I also tuck my coat and extra layers in above my quiver because humping all this on my back out to where I hunt I get overheated big time if I wear all my clothes.

I haul my bow and quiver up with a haul line, and set my coat on the seat as I ascend.

I don't use a climber, but when considering one I thought about how to haul my gear with it. I'd use a FannyPack. I also like to use a Thigh Pack. I find it very handy for gear you need at hand while moving or even in a stand. I've been hunting the ground and it keeps all the small stuff I need right in my lap, which really cuts down on movement. I can keep my compass, GPS, phone, calls, Windicator, Binocs etc in it. Mine is fleece covered and is quiet. Then in the fannypack goes extra cloths, if needed, some rope, field dressing gear, etc.

I just switched to Cabela's Transporter fanny pack, It has about five pockets on the inside ,
A place for water bottle ,The side pocket on the fanny pack for GPS,It also has what they call buddy lok ,I have a Wal-Mart pack that fits on Cabela's buddy lok And then I purchased another one of Cabela's I sure can take a lot of things with it . I like the zippers on it because they always open, They seem to be quality zippers  and they've got good loops on them.

 I like to go all day ,So it can handle the food and drink ,And all the other stuff I need to con a deer into the truck !

So far my con job hasn't worked out !

I like a Lumbar pack. I'd like to figure out a way to mount a quiver on it so I can just reach back and pull an arrow.  Would be nice to not mount arrows on the bow and have them out of the way.

I carry a over size fanny pack (with shoulder straps). When using a climbing stand, I just bungee the pack to the stand and away we go...
