Good luck with this Bill. Make sure the doctor knows you are a lefty and have a thing for Silvertips. You'll get the VIP treatment for sure!  Look around the office first though and make sure there are no PETA or USHumane Society posters hanging!

I was packed, with my bow, extra arrows, string, sleeping bag, etc. on the deck 40 minutes ago. Ready for my delayed annual trip to Indiana to hunt with my best friend. Doctor called. Said my MRI yesterday revealed more than cartilage damage in my knee. Torn cartilage, partially torn MCL, and completely torn ACL.  He said to "take it easy". I'll see the ortho guy at noon today. "Easy better not mean no climbing trees (climbing them doesn't hurt so much but coming down is a chore). I'll simply stay close to home in my local trees so the wife doesn't have so far to come fetch me.

I've had an umbilical hernia since birth. Doc says I should have it fixed but to date it hasn't caused me any problems.

Everyone,

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.  I'm not going to let it keep me down.  I plan on going to a Squire Parsons concert Saturday at a church near our home.

Bowwild,

I'm glad I wasn't drinking coffee or a Diet Dr. Pepper when I read your comment "I'll simply stay close to home in my local trees so the wife doesn't have so far to come fetch me."  I got a good chuckle out of it as it was.

KentuckyTJ,

You needn't worry about me looking through the classifieds and beating ya'll to "all of the bargains."  I have all of the bows in my collection that I want and need.     :)    :biglaugh:    :biglaugh:

Good luck on the surgery.  Hopefully you will be stronger for next years season.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Good luck to you Bill on a speedy recovery...do you still have that Fox Triple Crown?  If so, hopefully she is treating you well.

Best of luck Bill.

Hopefully this surgery is merely a minor set back.

Bill,

Have you talked to your doc about using the mesh?  STRONGLY suggest you get a positive answer to the question.

As for me, the first time the doc went in to do the repair he decided "nah, he didn't need to".  When I came out of the surgery... I was ticked.

Because of the first doctor's "ill decision", I had to have it done AGAIN 3 years later.  The second time, the 45 minute surgery took 3.5 hours (to repair all of the micro tears and then install the mesh... as should have been done the first time).

Best wishes.

Squire Parsons.......I liked the old song he wrote "Singing Through the Fire".

Go easy at the concert now, don't run any aisles.  You don't want to strain anything!

David,

Yes, he used the mesh to strengthen the wall.  He told me that I now have an inny belly button.    :)    :biglaugh:

Bill,

I had the same surgury a couple of years ago, If I remember I was shooting my bows within a week. It will be sore for a bit but heals real fast. My doc used the mesh also.
