Gun Season= Good for Bow
« on: November 10, 2010, 07:39:00 PM »
This Saturday is opening for gun here. I've killed a couple deer with a compound bow (and a few with a gun)during gun season. I'm trying it with my Martin Savannah this year. Seems when the guns start going off and with all the human activity in the woods it really gets'em moving. That and it magically seems the rut kicks off then. A coldfront's moving in this friday so maybe that'll help things. I'll be able to hunt most of friday without any blaze-orange. But come this weekend I'll be out there... bow in hand! Phil

Good luck

Always see more bucks and deer in general on opening weekend of shot gun season. The two biggest whitetails taken of our property were taken during the first two days. I think the hunting pressure from neighboring properties keeps the moving over to me!! Mike

Yeah, I really wish they'd let us bowhunt during gun season here in Illinois...Wish I knew why it was implemented like that.

I'm going to be bow hunting during the gun season here in NC. I'll have to wear an orange hat, but that's OK. Bow hunting during the muzzle loader and gun season's here extends the season by a month and a half, and makes it possible to hunt in the main part of the rut. I'll take an extra month and a half of deer season any time.

I like to down a fifth of Kentucky's finest Bourbon, take a hand full of downers and not wake up until gun season is over. I HATE IT!

Glad you have a good attitude about it though. Don't let me bring you down. Just too many years of watching the slaughter and having to run off the trespassers speaking.
