Talkin bout my generation.....
« on: November 16, 2010, 08:36:00 PM »
I was just thinkin....

You can get away with the old "they just don't make'em like they used to" in most cases.  However, when you think of the hunter/bowyers that are the face and factory for our passion these days....you got to believe Paul and Fred must be proud.  Guys like Dave, Norm, Brian, South...almost too good to be true.

I was just thinkin....     :coffee:

They don't make em like they used to...they make em better!
I think Fred would be very proud of what bowhunting has become. When they started they we treated awful, no season,  bowhunting had a lot of bad press. They fought hard to get it going in the direction to bring it to what it's is.

My dad often tells me how lucky I am to being growing up shooting the equipment available to my generation.

There are some fantastic Bowyers out there to say the least

But it still amazes me that I can pick up a 20 year old bow out of my collection and it will spit an arrow as fast as some of the new bows

Try that with a compound..........thats why I love my traditional bows  :)

Don't for get , Bill Dunn, Rick Welch, Lee Hoots, and Joey Buchanan. All great guys and great bowyers. Joey don't even sell bows but the one's ive shot that he made are very nice. I don't have one by the way , but I do have a "swamp rooter" hat. DB

This thread's title comes from an old "The Who" song and reminds me of another oldie - not as rockin'', but appropriate: "These are the good ol' days" - no doubt!

Yes, your generation is fortunate to have these fine craftsmen to build your bows. I'm glad I'm still here to take advantage of this time also. Bill Dunn and South Cox are 2 of my favorites on the list.

Julian, I didn't know you were even old enough to know who The Who was.....you must have Googled them.
