I took my first whitetail on my second day of trad. hunting.  I'd taken 21 w/ the compound, prior....and ended up taking 4 does and a buck (the one in my avatar) in my 1st season (last year).

Hang in there.

Got 2 my first year of trad hunting. But it was years of experience and lots of opportunities that made it happen. That first year was really frustrating, I think I did just about as much wrong in terms of shooting as anyone could have

Six years. Hunted with a compound first five years and then I switched to a recurve and got a button buck. I have had some dry spells since then but I am a better hunter now and seem to get a deer most years.  :archer:    :archer2:

As a deer hunter my first shot on my first hunt was it for me.

As a bowhunter it was the first year after 3 or 4 missed shots.

As a Traditional Bowhunter after two years of hunting with nothing but trad gear and missing alot this year I was blessed to connect with my first shot not long into my third season.

Others have said it, and I will echo it again, it really is worth the wait. Everything adds to the journey.

Thanks guys. I will always hunt. But now I will always hunt knowing that no matter how long it takes there are a lot of great people out there who have walked the same path I am.

If it was easy, they'd call it shopping.
It isn't the getting, if it was, you'd be on the gun hunting site.
It is about the aquisition of knowledge that will allow the deer to present itself to you. At that time you may or may not have your first Trad Deer. But you will have learned alot, that will only begin to unlock this ancient experience.
For me, it seems every 2 years I do something right, and I have venison.
Venison that means much more to me than all the deer I shot with a gun over the years.
Welcome to real hunting :-)
