I sure wish Bear would bring back the custom shop. I called them not long ago and the girl said they only come as you see them in the ads. Would be nice to have a choice in woods and grip styles. Even just the three like in the Mag Risers. You would think they would have some of those laying around to use as a template. I don't care for the red stripes and plain actionwood or the compass either. But that's just me.   :dunno:

Gun, it would be nice for them to offer some custom orders. Some would like to see the old Future Wood come back, but I think Dymond wood has replaced that. As far as grip styles, I saw at the K-Zoo expo that you can order the bow with "Fred's Grip" (lowered arrow shelf) as an option.

I would be very interested in finding out more specifics about this. I've heard something similar from others but can't quite seem to nail down how to make this happen.

As a "Bear guy" I would be in favor of all sorts of "custom" options being offered from the plant and would be more than willing to pay.

Would love to see a new Mag riser along with more wood TD options.

I too had a new red stripe but traded it away because the grip didn't quite fit like some of my other Bears.

Whew! Thought I killed a thread again.
I have the #2 Grip on a Bear Mag and like it. The three options that were available should about cover everyone. I just think Bear is missing the boat. Especially since the old risers are getting so expensive and hard to find as collectors are "hoarding" them.

I didn't realize I was collecting them until after the TV program "Hoarders" contacted me about filming a episode for their show. Told me someone in Canada had notified them.

Gun,

You will be happy to know that due to their intervention I will be letting go of a couple extra B Mags not shown as part of my therapy.

Hopefully Bear is listening, and I am sure that if the demand stays high they will see to it.

Wow Gun, if someone asks how many Bear TDs you have you can simply reply, "All of em!"

That Type A is a beauty!

I've been offered two, still in the box, that are custom jobs by past employees. One is solid ebony. I can't afford em though.

The "lunchbox special" Bear TD and so neat to see. I've seen a few but not alot by any stretch.

One thing I did see the past year at Denton Hill was a Bear TD riser that a guy had built himself....man was it nice! Wish I had that kind of talent.

Roy- not mine as stated. I only have a A Mag. As much as I'd like to have an older wood A, Doubt I'll find one "reasonably" priced anymore.
Bet you're getting lots of e-mails now about those two lunchbox specials.

Hey all,

I'm glad to see my old thread made a new appearance.  I love these Bear TD bows even though I have never seen or handled one in person.  Probably best I don't too cause I know I'd want one even more than I do now.

Seeing the pics you all posted of the variations over the years it occurred to me that all the Bear TD's look great.  I wouldn't mind having any year.  I don't know enough about them to say which one is a favorite.

Hey you all, how about posting some pics of the whole bow instead of just the riser?  Don't get me wrong, I love the pics of the risers, I just would like to see the whole deal from top to bottom in all their glorious beauty....hehe.

Lastly, since I don't know as much about them as I would like, can you all give me a decent idea as to what a good price would be on an A riser in 45 to 50 pound draw?  I know the least expensive would be the Magnesium riser, but after that, as to what year would be the best bargain, I have no clue.  What would be my best chance to get one?

Thanks everyone for jumping back into this thread and posting thoughts and pics.  I am enjoying it.
