I didn’t notice a noise difference, but I think with the short riser and limbs, 3 under could have pulled a lot more on the lower limb (similar to a long draw) and cause some stacking even with my 28” draw.  Anyhow I’m very happy with shooting it split finger.  It would be interesting to put #3 limbs on it and see how it felt with 3 under.

Here it is prior to refinishing the riser…I was going to wait a couple weeks to make sure the paint is hardened up good before mounting the limbs.

A question please, does the draw weight go up or down on a 45lb bow?
Thinking of an A riser & no 2 limbs, want 60/62'' bow.
My draw length is 27.75

The draw weight goes up as the riser length goes down…so my limbs which are 50# on an A riser are 48# on a B riser and 43# on a C riser.

Also you would need #3 limbs to make a 60” bow on an A riser

Ideal draw weight for what I want would be 43/44 LB at 62''
So I think a B-riser and no 2 limbs might be best, your opinion?

Any chance you can try out the various length risers before buying.  There's a pretty big difference in the feel between an A and B riser, IMO.

The B riser, no. 2  limb combination will give you a 62-inch bow. However, given your draw length, a 60-inch bow (A riser, no.3 limbs) would provide more than enough length. On the other hand, if you really want a longer bow, go for it.

Not as many older no.2 limbs available as there are no.1s or no.3s, but Bear did just start making no. 2 limbs again.

Well I couldn’t take it any longer…when my six year old asked to go stump shooting I had to string it up.

Looks great, Jon!!!!!

The average "break-in" period for a Bear T/D is 8-9 months...
You should be ready by next season!! :archer2:

Oh wait! Can't you Conn. guys hunt untill the end of Feb.??  :archer:

JohnCT&Orion,

Thank you for the advice, I will try the A&B risers to see which fit my hand best.
Thinking a B-riser and no 1or2 limbs should be great.
I will post when i find out.
Oh and merry Christmas to all.

Saw this thread pop up the other day and it has inspired me to finally take the plunge and upgrade my Sage.  After a bunch of hemming and hawing, settled on the B riser Bubinga with 45lb #3 limbs (my draw is 30"so thinking it will end up being ~50lb), placed the order this morning.  Can hardly wait.

Chuck- "8-9 months break in period" ?! Serious?
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

Ben that B riser you are considering with either #1 or # 2 limbs is gonna work fine for you at your 27.5 inch draw.

IMO the #2s are gonna feel little more smoother and be very stable and be a great bow for either hunting or 3-D.The #1s are also gonna be nice and give you a shorter hunting bow and maybe a little bit more performance.A little!

Either way you go your gonna have good fit.

You can always add different length limbs later and or the A riser if you like your original Bear T.D bow.most start with one combo and if they like it they add different limbs and risers sooner or later.

I have a 50th A Riser in black maple and N.1 limbs. I really enjoy it and it’s a great shooting bow. Arguably one of the best hunting bows in my opinion.
