Nala, you are right the Mags are the cheapest...then in my opinion the 2000 era risers, then a  big middle area, and probably Type 1A and Bs being the most expensive. Just my opinion from watching....sometimes you pay too much if you really want it....soemtimes you find a deal.   Limbs are another subject as they have changed over the years from Bear and there are aftermarket limbs.

I was fortunate enough to trade a Browning Sweet Sixteen for a A-Riser 2008 vintage and it shoots so nice, i shoot it everyday the weather permits here in Maine, i won't take her out in anything i wouldn't take my girlfriend out in, safe bet, i am currently figuring out what is headed next to add a new Dymondwood or Bubinga A-Riser and start me on my journey on hoarding Bears

Thanks Chad for that brief. I've been kind of wondering that myself. It took me about 8 months to find my Mag Riser. Been watching the Auction site for other Bear stuff. Prices do wander all over the place it seems. I'm waiting for a bunch of Old Bear quivers right now. I found one that I liked and bought. Then saw a classified for some more and got too good of a deal to pass up up for the lot.
It would be interesting to see some homemade versions. There is one now on the collector site. I would like to try that, but I hear it's near impossible to get the hinge assembly.

John- yeah but you still need the socket part, key and set screw. I have yet to see a wood handle up close but i think its a separate unit attached to the Riser somehow. On the Mags its part of the casting.

Gun, You are spot on. I've never been brave enough to try to remove the other portion of a latch but others have been successful. Beyond my very limited skill set and I don't want to make it worse.

these look and sound like great bows to have and I've decided I really want one to go along with my new to me '66 Kodiak that I've grown so fond of.  Anybody know the weight differences between the mag risers and the wood ones?  thanks... and keep those pics comin'... they really all look awesome!

Got my new B riser from Big Jim today , the Bubinga with red  glass. Looks great and shoots great. Got a Green Stripe last week. It's been a real good two weeks!!

I've seen Bear limbs marked with both 2 and 3 pound differences. A risers being shorter will have the higher draw weight than B or C risers with the same limbs.

That would explain my current limbs. Marked at 53# but are actually 58# on my Mag Riser.
I saw a picture somewhere of a Mag A & Wood A side by side. I can't remember which, but one looked a bit longer.

I'll post them next week.  The new limbs are alot faster than the older green tips. Both bows shoot where you look. I bought my first Bear in 1972 a Kodiak Hunter when I was in high school and shot for 15 years. Good to have a Bear again.

I'm gonna have to have one of these TD Bear bows.  I can't get one right now, but I will at some point.  I wish I had a rich uncle out there somewhere.....

All these TD's you all have posted are beautiful.  I wouldn't mind having a single one of them.

I am probably going to start looking for a Mag style with an A Handle in 45 pounds or so and see if I can get it at a good price.  I know, I know, "good price" and Bear TD" doesn't really go in the same sentence together, but I have to get lucky at least 1 time in my life with archery equipment, right?

Thanks all for the info and pics.  Please keep the pics coming, I love 'em all and if you all don't mind, I also SAVE THEM.  Don't worry I would NEVER, EVER post them and say that they were mine or try and mislead someone in selling something that wasn't mine.  I just save them because I love pics of bows....and guns.....and knives....and watches....
