Quite the year there Sam. Congrats! How long did it take you to find all those takedowns?
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

It was a great year , did not take very long to find them , finding was the easy part , paying for them was the hard part. I now own 12 Bear TDs , its almost as fun hunting for them as hunting with them. ( well almost )

Otto, My "all red" striper should arrive today or tomorrow. I may sand off the matte finish and put a gloss finish on it...still deciding.

I was very pleased with my " all Red Stripe" that bow shoots on par with any recurve I have ever shot. They have done Mr. Bear proud. And it looks good to boot.

Well I got my bubinga B riser today from Big Jim. They look better in person than in print if you ask me. The grip is NOTHING like the Dymondwood one I got a couple months ago. The Bubinga is tiny, very narrow. The gray one was really beefy, I took a bunch off the front, rounding the edges down.

someone asked about the throat on the bubinga, it's 4 3/4"

Mark thanks for taking the measurement. Very nice riser for sure. How much heavier is it than your A riser? thanks tom

It is actually a little lighter than the A. It is very slim.

It is hard to believe they make them so different. I am curious to know if they are all the same or it's just a crap shoot what kind of grip you are gonna get.

Anyone else have both of the new ones. How do they compare ?

My diamondwood red stripe looks just like your bubinga riser, very, very slim and with the "S" shape to the front of the grip.  I have a bubinga riser on order.  I hope it comes in similiar to yours. Mine is a "B" as well.  I wonder if the A's & B's come with different grips?

I got a Bubinga B riser last week. The throat is 4 3/4" like OBXarcher's. It surprised me how thin the riser is from side to side.....1" wide.

The grip felt strange at first, but it didn't take long to adjust to it, and it's a very nice performer, not a speed demon, but it's very easy for me to be accurate with.....I like it.

Mark,

My dymondwood red stripe is exactly like yours before you worked it over.  I have had a bubinga on order since November and they said 6 weeks!  Anyway I couldn't wait and bought one of Big Jim's red B's.   Grip is thin like yours.  Bottom limb wouldn't go on past the locator screw.  I shoot Rose Oaks. I took it out and shot the bow without the screw over the weekend and called Bear this morning.  They said ship it back at my cost and they would fix.  Second call was to big Jim and he said don't worry I will get you the freight cost reimbursed.  This guy is outstanding! but we discussed since the limbs are not Bears its a bit marginal to expect them to fit to the riser.  I agree to a point, but am willing to bet Brandon's limb is not the culprit.
Third call was to Brandon and he said (despite what some believe)that the screw locates the limb vertically and without the screw the tiller can be compromised and in worse case the limb could be damaged. Same answer as Bear but they didn't say why.  Anyway after chucking the screw in the drill press and sanding it down, still no go. Switched the top and bottom screws and finally got the bottom limb on. I still love Bear and am even more  impressed with Brandon Stahl and Big Jim.

The A Bubinga has a beefier grip and little larger throat. mine measures 4 7/8 and my B measures 4 5/8. the B is slimmer all over. the A Has a nice feel to me the shelf just sits a little higher . Jim

I'm surprised the A and B risers don't have the same specifications from model to model?  I didn't take measurements but I recall my Supreme B and A were both the same except the B was longer of course.

I really liked the look and feel of the Red Stripe 2011 A riser but it was just a bit too big in the throat for me. I almost had it worked down but decided to move it instead. My bubinga grip is much better for me.

I too moved my Red Stripe A riser because of the "beefy" grip. From what I'm seeing and hearing the Bubinga handles are a little "slimmer"....just the way I like them.

May have to consider a Bubinga now.

Interesting about limb and riser fit. I too seem to have certain limbs that fit certain handles best. I shoot my Rose Oaks mostly with a set or two of Bear limbs on occasion.

Could not agree more about Brandon Stahl and Big Jim...always a pleasure to deal with the both of them.

Enjoying the thread guys!

I have 4 set of limbs, new and old, All fit just fine.

Need to twist up a string to try out the new b riser. First impressions are it will be up for sale though.

You have me curious, is it a personal fit thing, or just not impressed with something else?

Dan
