Now Zepnut that's a bit too many risers for one man.  In keeping with our President and his philosophies of where he wants to take our country, why don't you "spread the wealth around" and send me one?  Both you and I will feel much better for it, I can assure you.  Then everyone here will see your example and be inspired as such to "spread the wealth around" in their own lives.  See how a simple gesture on your part trickles down to affect so many more people?  You can be a walking, talking symbol of his policies actually WORKING for the "common" man.  I get goosebumbs thinking about it.  Your name will go down for the ages.  I wouldn't be at all surprised to see you get an invite to the White House Christmas Party.  Your Star is on the rise...for sure.  All because of a simple gesture of giving on your part.

I'll take an "A" riser with a draw weight close to 45 pounds.

I knew one of Obama's policies would work for me someday.  ZepNut, you're my hero!!

Just my opinion but Bear TDs are the best bow out there.  I've owned probably 20-30 different "custom" bows but my A riser with #2 limbs is one bow that I will own till the day I die!  It always shoots right where I'm looking!  I love them!

I don't own one, but do admire them. I think the new ones on the Bear web are a step in the right direction!  Maybe someday!   :archer:

My first bow was a Bear bow and in my humble opinion Fred Bear is bowhunting. I too have several of the TD's. All sorts of limbs both Bear and Rose Oak.

This pic was taken this afternoon while I was in my ground blind.

If I am hunting I have a Bear TD in my hand. Love them!!

Like my friend Felix (and zepnut too I see...   :notworthy: )  I also have a love for the Bear T/D's and have collected a variety of models.

From the top of the line Signature, to the '69 Type 1A, the newer Supreme model and the Fred Bear Takedown, and a 1970 version of the Mag T/D.

All great lookers, shooters and keepers!!!    :D

Nothing but a Bear T/D for me also. Love the A risers.

Wow. Some great looking Bear TDs there. I have 4 risers and 5 sets of limbs. Great bows, and the best take down system ever devised.

I recently traded a crossbow for a green stripe riser w/ 50# limbs, the original instruction sheet, and a tube of Fred Bear Wax.

Couldn't resist making a case so as to take advantage of the take-down feature:

Details on the case here:

For people  who are subscribed to Archery Talk:

AT:Making case for takedown bow --- suggestions

I'd be glad of suggestions for improvements when I make a second case of walnut.

It's a pair of decorative brass hinges holding the case together at the back.

The ArcheryTalk thread has a picture of cutting the case apart which will give you an idea of what it looks like.

As I noted, I'm considering this a prototype and the top and bottom have a knot and some patched saw scars, and are from a cut-off scrap of closet door I picked up off the side of the road, so aren't that nice.

Those original TDs are beautiful!

I'm going to get my paws on a LH A or B Mag one of these days. I've seen pictures on these Bear TD threads of one dipped in Predator Camo -- my favorite pattern--what a combo! I had a rightie B Mag back in 1970 or so but it's long gone and now I shoot LH to match my dominant eye.  I know my memory is probablly playing tricks with me but I remember shooting that bow better than any recurve I currently have. I should have bought one from the classifieds last week -- a fellow sold one with limbs for $435 or so -- I didn't need the limbs though.

The Bear T/D, to me anyway, is the classic takedown bow of all time. The unique latch system, plus the beauty of the original wood risers, has no equal. I've had a couple of the mag risers, and they shot well. The wood risers are out of my league. Zepnut has a set of osage or yew limbs that match his riser wood very nicely, and together make the finest looking Bear T/D I've ever seen.

The plywood panels for the top and bottom float in grooves (dadoes) which I cut in the sides --- stopped dadoes for the ends, the long pieces match up w/ dovetails, so are through.

That is what I was wanting to see. I have been wanting to do something similar and was not sure about the grooves. You do nice work.

My first post here... been reading for a while but decided I couldn't sit out any more!   I always thought the BEAR TD was really cool but way too expensive for me.... until one day my Dad called me up and said he had something for me.  A friend of his was at a garage sale and bought a bow riser for $5.  He didn't want it so he gave it to my Dad.  My Dad is a lefty and the riser was RH so.... I went to pick it up and it was an early 90's Bear Custom Kodiak riser... still in the box, shrink wrapped including the receipt from Bill Krenz! It looks just like the one William Adams has in the pic above. I have since bought a set of 60# green tip limbs and 43# grayling limbs with fascor.
