The first bow that I shot as a kid was a Bear Grizzly when I was in the Boy Scouts in the mid 70s.
I have owned a lot of bows since then, but I finally got bit by the Bear bug and just bought a new Bear T/D - B riser (Bubinga) w/ #3 limbs (I like longer bows).
Looking forward to a great season chasing critters with her.

Got a question for the TD experts. My buddy has a 2011 A riser with #1 limbs in the black dyamondwood. His wife is due with their first child in the next month and he needs to sell the bow pretty quick. Its a hell of a deal and I want to buy the bow and get some Border Hex's for it. While I save up some money for the Borders, would it be ok to shoot the bow at my 29" draw? Or should I just buy the bow and wait for the new limbs?

One of my 4 Bear TD bows is an A riser set up with number 1 limbs. I draw 29" and that bow is just fine. Go ahead and shoot it, you might just like it so much you end up using it a lot.

I think I officially have the Bear bug. I started cruising through the auction site and there are some T/D's available that I think are rare after reading through this thread. Too bad they are RH

I'm a lefty and I bought the Bubinga red strip A riser and just pick up a B riser of the classified love the way fell in the hand.

Thta is the one thing I could not get over when shooting my friends (soon to be mine) T/D. It just fit. It fits better than my other more expensive custom bows. Now that I know other companies (RER, Rose Oak, and Border) make after market limbs, I am getting hooked. Its like ILF bows in a way.

Just finished reading all 33 pages here...Whew!!
Lots of satisfied owners. I got the bug too.
Just ordered the last Bubinga red stripe "B" riser that Big Jim had and some 55#, #1 limbs and a Bear string.
From what I've read here, and what Jim confirmed, that should come out to 53# which is exactly what I shoot which means I can use my existing arrows I hope. And the narrower grip should fit my small hand pretty well.
Does that sound like I got everything right?

Over the winter months I spent time looking at take down recurves, weighing up the prices and the probability that the company is still in existance should I have problems or need spares.

My choice was:-

riser A future wood
No. 3 limbs #50
making 60" bow

The choice was based on the points above already mentioned and I have owned a Grizzly for two years, the first recurve I could get on with, its brilliant.

One of my friends in British Bowhunting Ass. helped me with my choice and he pointed me towards this Trad Gang thread, now after reading most of the "33" enthusiastic pages I feel confident that my choice of bow was the right one.

A year ago I had two Bear T/D's, an "A" and "B" riser. Now, thanks to this thread, I caught some kind of a bug and added two more to the collection.

Someday, I'll gather all together for a photo shoot.

I'm glad this thread is still going. I thought it was gone there for a while.

I love these Bear Takedowns. I have loved and wanted one ever since picking up a Bear Archery Traditional Catalog many years ago from a tiny shop in my hometown. I was buying a compound at the time because I didn't know enough about TRAD gear. In fact it was a Bear bow. Nice bow too. I started leafing through that catalog and seen that TD and LORD have mercy I loved the look. I thought then that someday I am gonna get one. Unfortunately I haven't made good on that promise to myself yet, but I will. Somehow, someway I am going to own a Bear TD. I'd prefer to have an "A" Handle, but would gladly accept a "B". As to what finish or year, that wouldn't matter much to me at this point, I'd just be more than content with one that was a good shooter and solid. I don't know how hard they are to find in 45#, but I'll give it a try when I can.
