I just acquired a mag a handle and the limbs seem to be drilled wrong. The only way they can mount is with the emblems upside down. Anybody have any ideas. Thanks

Is the tiller measure upside down also?  If so remove screws from riser install limbs and shoot it

How do those Mag riser bows shoot.  Always liked the looks of them and they appear to bullet proof for a hunting bow.

I have a magnesium A riser and I love it, its my main bow now. I dont have to worry about denting it,if I scratch it up I can just repaint it,it has a stabilizer mount for a fish reel, and it is the ultimate backpacking/camping bow. The fact you can change grips is a big plus in my eyes. I prefer the high grip. When I got it it had no rest, plate or the little plastic peice for the sight window,I had to make those things myself.
I think this is the ultimate working mans/survival bow.

Iam using 2015 bear limbs 52 pounds, and they shoot pretty fast for  low poundage(low for me) Just bare shaft tuned for wood arrows and it uses 65-70 spine, which is abnormally high for what most my bows require.

I have the B Mag riser. Same same I got it because I dropped a brand new wood riser out of a tree. I shoot it better than my wood riser. I believe it is more center shot than my wood riser. Right now I have a set of Rose Oak 53# limbs mounted on the riser. Wish they made the riser agian but with a few updates like forged alum. like bear uses for their compounds.

Just picked up a used set of newer, i.e., last couple of years, No 1 red tip limbs. When I put them on my riser, the several strings I have for my existing set of old red tip No. 1 limbs were too long.  Hmmmmm.

So I set the limbs next to each other.  The newer limbs are 1/2 to 5/8-inch shorter.  Same curvature, etc., just end about a half inch sooner.  Instead of a 56-inch bow, I apparently have a 55-inch bow.  Or, are my old red tips long, and did they really make a 57-inch bow.? My strings for the old set of limbs are just a tad longer than 53 inches, which would be the AMO standard for a 56-inch bow.  I'll need a string closer to 52 inches for the newest limbs.  Anybody else experience this?  Did I just get a stunted set of limbs, or are all the newer limbs shorter?

I have a A and a B mag riser. I bought them this spring at a price of $275 each. One was refinished, one was original.

I paid about 220 for my mag A riser, but it needed to be repainted and had no  rest, plate or sight window plastic piece.
I made a plate from a coffee can and it is either centershot or past center,it is very accurate.
If anyone has a spare plastic solid sight window for an A riser I would be interested. They seem hard to find and my ice cream lid replacement isnt cutting it in the looks department!

I will start out by, " I need another bow like I need a hole in my head" but where can I look for  a Bear take down for sale?  I keep an eye on this site and others but folks seem to hang on to them. I would like to find one with a wood handle and limbs about 40# or so.  Can someone point me in the right direction.  and I can't afford a new one so my wife says that's out.

PM me with info if you would please.

Jon,

Long Range Archery in Holland has a new bubinga A handle (I think a 2012/13 model), #1 limbs, 40 lb in stock, they have it priced at about $720 (a used one just sold on the action site for about that price).  They may make you a deal to get it off the shelf as it has been in stock for a couple of years.  Otherwise watch the auction site as the Mag handles sell for around $400.

The question I have is how hard is to find the grips for the Mag handles, is there someone selling them?

Take a look at the classifieds.

I just listed my NEW green stripe that I recently bought from the old stock of a sporting goods store back room. It breaks my heart to part with it, but I need to raise some money.

Last Arrow: I have a few Mag grips that I can part with. Are you looking for right hand or left hand?

I will have some other Bear TD limbs and risers from my collection for sale in a few months.

After reading all of this thread, I too think it is time for me to try one of these bows. I have a question though. I currently have a early 70's Kodiak Hunter and the grip is a high wrist and I cannot shot it well at all. The TD's look more like a medium wrist grip. Can someone confirm what type of grip are on these bows. Thanks,Jeff

I've been shooting and hunting with mag handled bows for a long time. I have both A B and C handles, though the A is my favorite. I use one with a No 3 limb 60# and another with a No 2 limb at 53# and have other lighter limbs as well. These make superb hunting bows. I guess I should list my B mag handles as they just sit under the bed. The A's handle my 27" draw just fine.

Top Gun:
The mag risers have removable grips so they can be high, medium or low wrist, depending on what grip you put on them.

In the wood risers, the A riser is kind of medium wrist and the B riser is somewhat lower.

None of them are as low as a straight grip, but the B wood riser and the low mag grip are about the same and comfortably low.

I find the removable high mag grip to be a lot like the K-Hunter grip.

I can shoot the medium grip (wood A or mag med) and the low grip (wood B and mag low) equally well, as the difference is not too pronounced.

I hope that information helps.
