If you went with 35# #3 limbs, that’ll put you around 39# at 31.5. I’d go with a set of anniversary limbs, 40#, should get you around 44#.
Jerry at stickbowsupplies or Noble Sinclair are both Bear dealers and great to deal with.

Hey Billy,    I sent you a pm.... i think you may need to rethink your calculations. These have a wee bit more pounds per inch between 28-31.5" than you think.     35# would probably fit the bill nicely.    Kirk

Yeah we’re both estimating here... Every set of limbs are different. If 35# don’t get ya there, try the 40# route. I’m sure you’ll find the combo your looking for.

Due to some health issues, I am considering purchasing a b mag riser and long limbs.   I want about 45@ 31.5”.   Would  I need 35 lb limbs or something else?
Yes, 35# limb should get in the correct ballpark. 31.5” is 3.5” over 28” so at 3# per inch you would be at 11.5# increase.

I'm seeing 4# per inch on two sets I'm using these days.
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

There are NO grips of any kind for this riser.

The spline machined in these riser for that slot in the limbs is wider than the same spline machined in the old and new Mag handles and all of the wood handles.

By "Dado" do you mean the pin that fits into the hole on the limb butts?

No, I think he means the slot in the bottom of the limbs, anyway that is what I’m referring to.

Kirk,

I have two of the risers and there are two more at our archery club that guys have and I have helped set up. I have had no issues in installing #1 or #3 limbs on any of them so far.  I haven't tried a set of the new #2's yet.

An interesting observation on your behalf. All of us have made the comment at how quiet these risers are compared to the other mag risers or the wood risers.  I wonder if that slightly tighter limb fit may be contributing to it.

Randy I know its subjective, but how does that grip feel?  I like my narrow LE riser but the 50th was "meh".

There are no issues with installing new(2014 and newer). The issues I have had are with the older Grayling limbs-they simply won't fit because the slot/dado is narrower. Have had no issues with the older limbs fitting the new mag or wood risers.

The other issues I've had with newer limbs is their inconsistency-most are a very sloppy fit, especially on the Eichler riser.

The Eichler seems quieter and lighter in the hand and does shoot well, if one can get used to the grip.

Thanks for the feed back guys.

I've noticed quite a bit of difference from one Bear riser to the next one. But mostly it has been alignment issues. That's why i have my customers send me their risers so i can custom fit the limbs and make sure they are straight. I've had some that were pretty loose, and others tighter, but typically i can mill the slot in the limbs at .25"  (1/4" ) and have them work fine with a little fine tuning.

I fit the limbs to the riser first with a full width limb profile, then center line them and shape the limb width profile dead straight...... But.... I cannot even get a 1/4" slot to even mount on the Fred Eichler riser. The tendon measures .020 - .024 wider than the std Bear riser.  I had to do a lot of sanding to get these limbs to slide into the groove.

If the limbs are too loose and move from side to side a bit in the riser, it moves those limb tips a LOT... This can cause limb alignment issues, poor tracking, and even limb twist if its bad enough. With a conservative limb design, you can get away with a wee bit of slop in the fit. But with these static tip recurve limbs i build. as well as the Hybrid long bow design, they need to be dead straight to get good alignment and tracking.

Here are a few pictures if you are interested...

50th anniversary Kodiak takedown did well at our recent South African trip.
A riser, #1 limbs, 56” 50# perfect for the blinds and in the Bush.

For those of you that have bought one of the new Fred Eichler risers from Bear, R-Core is now making grips for this riser. Shipping takes a while as they are coming from Greece, but they are making an excellent grip.  Only complaint I have is the website has so many options for grips.  Hard to figure out what I wanted!  :biglaugh:

Nice buck, Gun.  I kind of like the old mag risers myself.  Haven't had a chance to try one of the Fred Eichler risers yet.

R.V.  Nice looking grip.  Does sit pretty low under the arrow rest compared to other Bear mag and wood riser configurations.

I like the modern look of the new riser but not all of us shoot off the shelf. That riser in green with a set of the green glass limbs from 3R would make a nice comb
