Late Season Ends Early
« on: November 23, 2010, 03:56:00 PM »
We have a bunch of ice out west right now.  I slipped while clearing ice off the car this morning.  I fell hard on my left side and landed with my left fore arm flat on the concrete.  I now have an extremely sore left elbow and shoulder.  Looks like I will be out for at least two weeks if not all of late season.  If I do hunt it will have to be with the wife's 40 lb longbow.  I was smart enough to set it up so it shoots to the same point of aim as my heavier bows.  I had an elk trip planned with a buddy for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday now it looks like I am staying home or playing camp cook.

Not complaining here, just sending a warning out to everyone to be careful in the nasty weather.

I'm out for atleast the next week, if not longer.  I threw out my back at work yesterday, and doc says stay off of my feet.  I asked if hunting would be OK.  To which he responded Workman's Comp would probably frown upon it.

So yes, I feel your pain, and you just might be seeing alot of posts from me in the near future.  Please just let me know if it gets to be anoying.     :biglaugh:

Oh wow! Bummer. Clay, sorry to hear about that; coincidentally I did send you some 'entertainment' today.

I hope you guys get better soon.  Those things can clear up fast if you take it easy.  I am going in for some surgery on December14th so will only get a couple days late season myself before I am down for 6- 8 weeks.  I plan to be ready to go hard at it next year.  Unfortunately with as slow as hunting has been here even for the gun hunters I think it could be a great late season this year.

That's what I'm betting on.  It has been way to warm this season.  Don't get me wrong, I hate winter more and more every year, but for deer season it would be nice to get a little snow.  We had some on the west side of the state the first weekend of November, and that was when I saw the biggest deer of my hunting career, but it never came close enough to let one fly.  Man having ethics sucks.

Clay, I am here in Seaside and we have the ice and snow here too.  Definitely treacherous for us temperate weather folks.  For those of you anywhere to our east or north, STOP LAUGHING.  :knothead:

Not laughing here! We got snow and ice also but, not too bad and I'll be heading out in the morning if things and weather allow it.

Clay, sorry to here about your misfortune. I hope it feels better and you are able to get out before the late season ends.

Good luck on a quick recovery.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Sorry to hear about this.

Drink extra water to help flush the bruising out.
Hopefully a little time is all you`ll need.

A positive attitude counts for alot.

Just shift a gear into some other interest that you can still do. Your off time will go by quick, that way. It all can be what you make of it and get ready and recharged.

Bummer - but better not to aggravate an injury. Might be still fun to go get into the elk - be a dedicated caller?

Get well soon ... this early snow has got to be driving you crazy not being able to hunt.

Get well soon guys, I lost the late season in 2008 to a fall on the ice. It was not fun. I shot a doe  on Dec. 3 and had to carry the camera the rest of the time. Rest, Rest, and Rest. It will help.
