" Honey, I had to cut a hole in the wall"...
« on: November 26, 2010, 04:05:00 PM »
...is what I had told my wife on the phone  :goldtooth:  . She just about fell over!!  I told her not to worry, I was just increasing my indoor range in the basement. The kicker is that I do alot of venison processing and we have a cat that I need to keep out of that room, so the only down side to this story is that I have to put up the barrier every time I am done shooting so the cat can not get in..Oh well, its a SMALL price to pay. I only had a 10-11 yard range downstairs and thought to myself.." if I could just "modify" that wall, then I could have a 20 yard range...

Enough said..  :goldtooth:  So heres my "new"  20 yard range..

"the hole"

A view from 20 yards back..

The wall back toghter after shooting..

Perfect, until you decide to finish the basement like I did. But now the wife is happy with her quilting room, an extra bedroom, play room for the grandkids and the best a 650 sq. ft. hunting man cave for myself.

That must be nice. I have to wait till everyone is either out of the house or up stairs. Then I can shoot from the living room into the kitchen.

Excellent!  I've been shooting in the house for many years myself. Don't know what I'd do when bad weather or dark if I couldn't go downstairs to my range.  Should have seen the look on the contractor's face whenI told him I wanted 9' ceilings in the walk-out and a clear shot from 'this corner to that one and double doors between the workshop and rec room.

I just setup my 3D target tonight. I can get a 13 yard shot from the living room, down the hall and to the far side of the boy's bedroom. The wife gets all worked up, but we only hit the wall once last year.

Tried that one time....took out the over head light bulb with the limb tip on the first shot...took forever to clean up all the little pieces of glass !!    :smileystooges:
