Stands work, but you lose the ability to re position or move in if you need to. A Bull circling down wind is usually not too sure about the call. Nothing will cover your scent enough, but mare in heat urine 30 yards or so to either side of you could help, but I've never used it though. Calling with a lake(from a point) or steep bank, rock face on your down wind side eliminates/minimizes the bull coming from that direction. The set up is most important.
