So- does Merino wick moisture away?

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

You can't beat wool. It's the perfect fiber especially if it gets wet you will stay warm.

I do like Orion. I use silk next to the skin and wool over that. Fortunately, down here in Georgia, it seldom gets cold enough that I need both, but when it does, this is a good combination. Now... if I can just keep my feet a tad warmer.

yes merino will also wick moisture away,as does silk. I also layer silk first then wool. Wintersilks sells heavy silk tops and bottoms, pretty pricey but last longer than cabelas and much heavier.

If you get caught out in the woods in a bind     :help:    , I would rather have the military ones.  Cutting the legs off of silk thermals would not do a very good clean up job an wool is expensive...

HEY, I am just saying there are things you gotta think about!!   :goldtooth:

Minus 33 merino wool is GREAT stuff! It doesn't itch and it keeps you warm. I went on their website and did the "dealer locator" and find out that a golf shop, of all places, in the area carried them. Got a great price. The lady asked me if I was going to wear them golfing in Oregon. I told her I would be wearing in Oregon...just not golfing! haha

Like mentioned above...smart wool is the absolute best that I have ever found.  But BOTH sets...the light stuff and the heavy stuff.  Read the directions...and do NOT mix cotton with it.  You will stay warm.

I like silk when I'm active but when I'm going to be sitting, it's Ulfrotte Woolpower 200 (right against the skin).

The Regulator stuff from Patagonia is great. Has waffle pattern on the inside that traps warm air. Works great.
