Guys,

Please remember that this is a trad bowhunting forum.  The only time we allow off topic weapons, fishing, etc is during the St Judes Auction threads, or VERY special threads that have been approved.

Trying to keep the site focused and on course is a lot of work, so please understand and bare with us.

Thanks.

For me 2006 strengthened my conviction to stick with traditional bowhunting. Doesn't feel right anymore to hunt with anything else. Also became a TradGang member and I am learning alot. This a great site and a great bunch of people. Here is a picture of my 2006 buck.

Made the shot of my life on my last hunt of the year. We are expecting the birth of our daughter any day and I packed it in early right before Christmas.

Matt,

Pics or stories or posts of hunting trips other than Traditional bow hunting are not allowed, read the rules. Has been that way from day one. This is a Trad bowhunting site only, the mods have a very difficult job which would be less difficult if we would all follow the rules. No need to get mad.

Not getting mad........but my pic and caption was ABOUT trad bowhunting........the point was that I tried something else, and learned a lot about why our sport is for me and others aren't.

I guess than that my fishing pic should be pulled too.

Matt,

No one was offended, we are not against guns or fishing, its just that we are about trad bowhunting.

If we allow one person to post gun pics, then we have to allow everyone, and the site will get watered down from its main focus.

2006 was a year of travel for me.  What made it special was the time spent with some very good traditional bowhunting friends!

May - Black bear in Saskatchewan

May - Spent a week in South Africa dreaming about my 2007 hunt

May - Spent a week in Australia dreaming about a future buff hunt

August - Antelope hunting in Colorado

Sep/Oct - Waiting for the float plane after a long Yukon moose hunt

November - Nice buck taken on the third day of vacation

Can't wait to make more memories with friends in 2007!

2006 was a good year. Didn't make enough bowhunting time, but gave it a good go. Will make sure I spend more time in the wood in 2007.

Opening day Sept 15, 2006

Spent the week of Thanksgiving chasing tropy's in Kansas.  Crazy 70 degree weather.

Bagged my first trad animal the 1st 10 minutes of light on opening day this year.A dry 3 or 4 year old doe, delicious and she ran to the road before she died of a double lung hit with a 125 snuffer.Second time out I saw deer, coyotes, turkeys but was only presented by awith a shot at a 50lb button buck.I passed him and hopefully well cross paths in 3 or 4 years. Then I missed 2 turkeys on the ground a few days later, but only by inch or so I might add.I enjoyed it immensely even though I didnt bag them.Although theses 3 hunts were my first trad hunts I dont think I ever enjoyed hunting so much. The gun season didnt feel right to me and I missed having my bow in my hand. This year changed my hunting life for the better Id say.I think I may one day hunt trad only. Not that I have anything against other hunting tools but trad just made me feel more at one with the woods, like I was really welcomed to be there by mother nature and the critters that lived there, it was a weird feeling that I may not be expressing accurately enough for all of you to understand.Another 06 highlight, really the best for me was getting my 6 year old boy into shooting a recurve and loving it.I also got my cousin to buy a recurve and he has never bowhunted before!I think hes hooked.Anyway it was a great , life changing first year with hopefully many to come.

My 06 was great for me too.  I have been into filming while I am out hunting for a few years now.  I got this bad boy on film for 5 or 6 minutes before he got within 5 yards so I could shoot him on camera!  A 1st for me with a buck.  Have a couple doe kills on camera, but this was amazing.  If I could figure out how to pull a still off it I could post a pic on the hoof!

These stories and pics are awesome!  It took me more years than I care to mention to become successful with traditional gear and it would have been a great encouragement to see the success of others while trying to learn.  So as Terry said, keep the memories flowing!  There is definate mojo in the sharing of our traditional archery experiences!

Was able to fill my kids frezers on a visit in September.
