TallTines goes to Kansas
« on: December 11, 2010, 04:40:00 PM »
This past spring a good buddy invited me to come hunt with him in KS.  I spent most of Nov. in the shop so we decided to try our luck bowhunting during the rifle season.  I was able to shoot this buck the second night on stand at around 12 yards.  He went about 40 yards or so after the shot and tipped over.  I didn't do much more than make the shot as my buddy did the scouting and hung the stand before I arrived and to him I owe a great deal of thanks.  The buck had a severly broken left front leg which more than likely led to the right antler deformity.  Obviously the deer had lived with the injury since last spring having grown the antler this way, but I don't see how he could have made it once the snow hit and he had to paw for food.  In order for him to stand he had to place his hind leg forward forming a tripod.  Once he was down I drug him towards the stand and then went to the road to wait to be picked up.  When we went in to get him the trailcam snapped a neat pic of the two of us with the buck.  Best of luck to everyone for the remainder of the season.  Merry Christmas to all......

BW,

Is that the same longbow you shot all your Iowa deer with?  Any more pictures of that?

Good one Brian.  With the new longbow too!  I'm itching to try the TD longbow.

Way to go Brian, it nice to see that you get out to do some field testing with all the hours you put in at the shop.  Congrats on the buck.
