I do not believe I had ever met Chris. I have been noticing his post on the PBS site and enjoyed reading them-

Prayer sent for Chris's family and friends. This should illustrate to us all that tomorrow is not a guarantee and we should keep our house and lives in order---

It sure has made me step back and take a look deep inside--

Hard to believe such a dynamic man could be gone.  My thoughts and prayers go out to Larry and the rest of Chris' family.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

I am stunned.  This is a real blow, and I don't know what to say.
I have only had the pleasure of sharing one camp with Chris, but was looking forward to many more.  Of all the people I have meet through Trad Gang Chris stands at the top of the list as a fine man and this news leaves a deep hole in my heart.
My deepest sympathies to Larry and the rest of the Surtees clan.

It is very hard to type this. Chris was a dear friend of my family. Skyler is at school and doesn't know this yet. He, like so many who knew Chris, will be heartbroken.
We have spent many hours with the Surtees Family and now realize how precious that was....
