Looking for the luck of the Irish
« on: December 17, 2010, 03:49:00 PM »
Had all the Christmas cheer I can stand. Taking my show on the road tomorrow, gonna test out my new tipi and go looking for the luck of the Irish(wilderness) on the Eleven Point River. See ya Tuesday or Wednesday.

Good luck Scott.

Well the Irish gave me a gift but the locals pretty much spoiled the rest of the trip. Couple of guys behind me spotted a gut shot doe and pointed me back to her so I was able to get some meat for a friend. But the local yahoos have a fondness for running deer hounds (illegal), I saw at least 6 different dogs in 12 miles and heard more. Plus the place I planned on camping looked like party central so the camping was out. On the bright side the scenery was great.

Be careful of the term "Luck of the Irish"  the saying came about because the Irish were well known for "not" having any luck.

But you...that's different...darn lucky to be on a trip like this.  Great country judging by the pictures.  I can't wait to get back up in the Adirondack in the spring.  Good job on the photo's

Before my wife and I got married the Eleven Point was one of our favorite floats.  I have never eaten crayfish that taste as good as the ones from there.  We have floated it in January when it was 10 below.  The springs are amazing, even in the dead of winter they make you breath deep and thank the Lord for the chance to see them.

I've lived in Missouri my entire life and have never floated eleven point river.
Of course there are numerous streams in Missouri that I haven't ever stepped foot in, but I live on Big River so anytime I want to float or fish that's the one that I know the best......and it's only a stone's throw from my house.

Scott- Sorry to hear your trip was basically ruined by villiage idiots, but that seems to be the case these days. My worst experiences were usually ruined by city people and not the locals, but you never know what could happen?

Glad you salvaged what was left of your trip and got some real cool pics.
So did you finish off a gut shot doe? Or what exactly happened there? Please elaborate a little bit.
