1st Trad deer Euro mount
« on: December 19, 2010, 12:55:00 AM »
I was lucky enough to get my first trad deer back on 11-7

Got the skull back from the beetle guy last night.  I'm very happy with the results.  It took 5 weeks to the day for it to be finished.

that looks great! do you know if it's whitened or finished with anything, or is it straight from the beetles?

The beetles get every bit of flesh off the skull and it is treated with peroxide, then clearcoated.

The skulls are kind of a gray/brown before whitening.

I do mine myself wih the boil and pick technique but by far the beetles are the best.  Really looks great and the teeth are not loose.  I just hate to spend money on anything I can do myself.  Very nice looking mount

I just got my first trad gear deer a few days ago and dropped it off at my buddies placeyesterday, He does skulls for a hobby and extra income. I too have decided to go with a euro mount. They look cool, great deer you got there!
