Taught a youngster to shoot......

Long story short...I took my old red elm self bow that I grew up shooting to a co-worker's house to teach his son how to shoot (10 yrs old). I've created a monster!!! He won't put it down. He asked his dad to get him up at 5:00 a.m. so he could shoot before dad has to go to work! Anyways...if i've got time i'm going to make him a red oak board bow for himself, but if I can't find the time, can anyone recommend a good youth longbow to buy?

This bow is also a great choice for an adult.

Way to go , gotta keep the kids involved. The smile on a kids face when they hit the target is almost as rewarding as harvesting a trophy animal.

Thats great! Most kids are just naturally drawn to the bow. I'd think ten years old would be one of the better ages to really get'em started. Their strong enough now to handle the draw and they're starting to mature enough to understand the physics of it. I've got a 3year old that I'm trying to nurture (the love of the cast arrow is already there). Hopefully on my part, I won't  push him too hard (or teach him too bad a habits!)....Phil
