Here is where we are tonight:

The checks in Cary's were too deep in the handle area and in my opinion would certainly pose a problem.

I will start over, and have a perfectly straight and clean stave for this. Cary's will have all my attention, while Tim's will be drying in the Chevrolet drying box  ;)

You can see it on the picture in the background.

 

Tim's is now fully rough shaped (bottom limb done)and ready to be steamed straight and reflexed

I received Tim's work of art, what can I say? Wow!

Hi Osagetree,

Here is how I steamed Tim's handle to center the string:
 

Masking tape on the back, and the wood was protected by 4 coats of olive oil.

I steamed it for 45 mins before bending, and hold it in shape until cool
