New Black Widow for my Dad
« on: December 21, 2010, 11:09:00 PM »
My Dad has shot traditional archery before traditional archery was cool (or traditional archery for that matter).  In fact him selling a bow 4 years ago allowed me to step into the traditional world.  Dad had always shot bows in the 63lb range, I talked him into selling a bow and ordering a lighter weight bow. I ended up keeping that lighter weight bow and he ordered its twin brother (it since is back in his bow rack).

Dad comes up and helps Mindy out a ton especially during the busy times.  He always tells us he is just a phone call away (or text, lord help us with his texting.  I wanted to do something really nice for him for all the help he provides.

Christmas is just a few days away and its like I am 8 years old again.  Since dad thinks Tradgang is some suburban off shoot of the Crips I think I am safe in posting a few pictures of his Christmas present.

Here are the crucial details.

Black Widow PMA
50lbs @ 28
Bocote with Osage accents
Osage Limb Cores
Osage overlays

I had Dads grand kids names engraved in the limb.

I think he will be very surprised, I think.......

My Bocote PSAX don't look like that! I love the grain pattern.....that actually looks like Ziricote or Dalmatian myrtle. How did you specify that pattern of Bocote?

I wanna order a PLX like that pattern of Bocote.....

I am kind of spoiled.  Black Widow is 10 minutes one direction and their wood supplier moved his shop 20 minutes in the other direction.  I ask the kind gentleman at Black Widow to get some really unusual stuff in and I went and picked out the laminations.

I am sure that will become his favorite bow.  Not just for the looks, but for who gave it to him and having his grandkids names on it.  He will love it!
