New feather shapes/sizes
« on: December 23, 2010, 01:35:00 PM »
Here are a three different sizes of feathers that I have been playing around with for those that might be interested

the first one is a 2" shield with pointed back and if made from tail feathers, would make some awesome "flight" arrows I would think.

The next one is a 3" version for some kids arrows maybe

The last one is a 4" version of the same for target or hunting

They all look great.I for one would be interested with your tials with the 2" and 3" with a hunting weight arrow and have thought about experimenting with the same for fun.

Now I'm going to have another project trying out some 2" or 3" feathers. Really like the looks of them. Can't wait for a review on them and the setup's used. They sure do look good.

Now then, take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me, Gen 27:3

Thanks all.  I think they will have a place for some, especially the 3" for the little one's arrows.

Great looking fletcing.  I'd bet 4 x 3" would work great on some adult arrows too.  What is the pricing for 3" per 50?

Thanks.

D. Key.  You have a PM or you can go to the Associate Sponsor listing under Charles L Jefferson Jr. and do things that way.

Long thread, but Ashby and others did a very indepth overview of feather size and impact on arrow flight and noise.

If anyone's interested in reviewing this from the archives:   http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=057257;p=36

Fella here on Gang made up an A&A Feather Chopper from a Li'l Chopper he altered.

He sold one on St. Judes a few back and I got him to make me one for another donation.

It's hard to get the 90* angle on the back totally, but it's supposed to be whisper quiet per flight engineer rhetoric.

some like low profile nanners... to each his own but a good read regardless...
