« on: December 25, 2010, 02:31:00 PM »
every year I set a series of goals. It could be buy a new bow, take a deer from the ground, shoot a deer with some sort of a homemade Item such as a wood arrow.this gives a new type of focus for the year to come. Each year I achive my goal because I start to think an prepare early this also gives me time to work out any bugs that may come up.It has been helpful in renweing my love for archery an hunting an allows me to have success in many forms.what are some of your goals

I have been away from archery for several years now.  My goal is to get back to shooting and go hunting with my two nephews next fall.

My archery goal for this new year is to use more of what I have and (try) not to spend any more money on "trad stuff". Right!    Any body what to buy the Brooklyn Bridge?

Get a deer with my longbow. Got 2 with compounds and several with a rifle and hand canons, but couldn't imagine what a thrill it would be to down one with my longbow and homemade Zwickey tipped cedars. Not like I'm not trying though. Went out early this morning again with no luck but I think I've gott'em pinpointed a little better now. Try it again tomorrow!....Phil

My overall goals this year relate to 3-D shooting and hunting.

For 3-D, I want to improve my overall scores and most importantly enjoy myself with my two older children who both come with me to the shoots.  I hope they enjoy it as much as I do.

For hunting:  I would like to get another elk , regardless of the size(i got a small 5x5 on Sept. 11, 2010).  I have not yet gotten a whitetail with my longbow, but would like to do so for 2011.  Size of antlers for either species is unimportant as it relates to bowhunting. In general, I want to improve my stalking and still hunting skills.
I enjoy being a traditional archer!!

Kill a buck with a longbow I made.  This year I got my first doe with a homemade longbow which was a great feeling, but a week later I missed a chip shot on a buck.  No other shot opportunities the rest of the season.

Take my son on his first bear hunt -- New Brunswick.

Hunt Elk or Antelope with my best friend Jim.

Kill Merriams turkey in Nebraska.

Kill eastern turkey (3rd with bow) in KY.

Make a decision on woods for my April-due Silvertip.

My number one goal is to watch my daughter shoot her first deer. Aside from that, I'd like to shoot more field archery this summer.

My goal is to kill a rack buck with my Wesley Special.   A bear down on the Dolly Sods would be nice too!

I am working on a new bow.  Another long bow.  45# give a lb or 2.

Shoot some 3D this summer.... (with new bow, not for score)

Join PBS

Spend more time in a stand with my wife next year.

Cookus:  I thought "the sods" were all developed with the ski areas and all????  I sure would love to be able to woodcock hunt that area one more time.....

2) Improve my shooting.

To become more proficient with my longbow then I was with my recurve (not let the transition hamper my ability/confidence with the bow to take game etc.).

To become more active in my "local" trad community.

To plan at least one hunt (even a bowfishing trip) away from home.
