Fast Coyote
« on: December 27, 2010, 01:38:00 AM »
Went calling late this mornning. First stand in some older apricots ,did the dying rabbit. At about five minutes had one comming in hard, gets to about hundred yards or so slows and starts to circle but still getting close .Getsto 20to25 yards I blow it a kiss and it stops witha perfect broad side shot ,I let the arrow go .Its heading right where I want it to go Right before it gets there the coyote flattens itself and the arrow goes just an inch or three over the its back right over the shoulder. The coyote skips mach 4 and 5 and jumps right into hyper space and is gone in just seconds. Made some more stands but no takers. On the second to last stand did have one hang up about a hundred yards out. Was realy cool watching that coyote dodge that arrow and take off in to space. one of the fastest moves I seen them do. Did kill this big mush room ,seen lots of piggy tracks. On the way back to the truck on one stand did get a bunny for dinner. Going back out in the mornning. Chassing these coyotes is real adictive and tons of fun.

Sounds like a great hunt
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

I think they run FASTER from a close encounter with an ARROW than they do a bullet.

Dwill I been using rabbit disress but making the screams longer than nomal.Fox call been working also.Been seeing some scratching so they are so its going to get hard to get thier atintion. Try making some fawn or lamp bleats with your rabbit call.
