A Long Overdue Morning......W/ Pix
« on: June 03, 2007, 01:32:00 PM »
I'll try keep this short.....

I've been friends with Gary for a long time. But we usually only see each other once a year at the Muzzy shoot(He's a two time overall champion!). Over the years I've literally watched Timmy "Tim Kosteczko" grow up at a once a year pace....Like a weed!!  He's finally the last year or so gotten serious about trad hunting and it's great for me to see him here at TG(Dad just lurks)

Gary has for years invited me to come to his place and get together to bowfish,camp,hunt,whatever...but for one reason or another it never happened till yesterday morning......

Gary, Tim,and I got together to do some bowfishing. This is not spawning type, can't reel in fast enough type bowfishing.....it's awesome spot and stalk style fishing/hunting.....

I'll be back.....

Gary walked down the shore and Timmy and I took the canoe downstream to one of the "good spots"..Tim and I were looking for carp as we cruised. Then we heard  the water explode over by Gary. He'd shot and made good hit on a nice carp. Tim and I paddled over to help him land it,and we were off downstream again and soon left the canoe to stalk the shorelines....

Timmy was next to get a shot as he worked the shoreline with his dad and I just hanging back watching. As we followed Gary and I ran into this....

First time in all my years hunting that I've seen a fawn so young it wouldn't run....I loved it!

We continued on and watched him make a fine stalk and was soon real close to a tailing/feeding fish.

He rose and made a good shot, but the arrow pulled free as he tried to tighten up on it......Timmy wasn't happy!

Next it was my turn ....we found a tailing fish and they let me go after it.  I got as close as I could and made good on my shot.It was kind-of a long shot and the arrow out of my little #45 Kodiak Magnum didn't make it all the way through,so they were both there to help me land it. We wanted to get another arrow into it,Tim glanced one off,but Gary sent one home and we soon had another fish......

That was about the end of the action, but we also ran into a pretty big snapper.I had to get to my nephews party, then my son's ball game and it was getting hot!

 We snapped some pix.....

It ended up being one of those days that make you realize how much time has gone by.....
Tim's grown up,and I have a son of my own now.

But also a day that made me realize how much more I have to look forward to.....
After watching Tim and Gary spending such quality time together. I look forward to doing the same with Cade.....

Thank you both so much..it was long overdue.....let's do it again real soon!

a couple more pix of the fawn.....Tim

So vulnerable, so fragile...you just want to protect them as much as the doe does.

Great day, Curt.

Real nice pics as usual Curt. A couple springs ago my daughter and i found a set of twins while walking through our woods. There so cool, and surprisingly camouflaged in the right setting.

It really was one of those mornings I'll never forget....it wasn't at all about the amount of action we had....we've all shot way more fish in one morning.....It was about the hunting of the few fish we saw.....and more importantly...who I was with!

Geno......it's just a store bought reel I've had for many, many years. It screws into the "stabilizer" hole in the riser.

Hey Curt,

Your pics sure do bring back some memories!!

A few years back (too many to count) I encountered twin fawns. Both fawns were about three feet away, sniffing the air trying to smell the stranger. That's what memories are made of....
