My New Years tradsolution
« on: January 01, 2011, 10:34:00 PM »
A few years back I purchased a Fred Anderson made Skookum (58 @ 27") longbow from someone here at Trad Gang. Sometime after that I sent the bow to our BowDoc to be refinished and restored (and he did an excellent job),

However in the time since then the bow has primariy sat on my bow rack gathering dust. I'm thinking that a bow made from one of our own Pacific Northwest bowyers really deserves to be used in our Pacific Northwest woods. My New Years resolution is use the Skookum exclusively when I head to the elk woods this fall.

Shoot more, shoot more often     :goldtooth:
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

My goal this year is to reach as many people in the world as I can regarding our beloved sport/lifestyle.

Nature needs our participation, creation our adoration, mankind the healing that returning to the basics can afford.

Have always tried to do that, and will be my main goal this year as well.  Also will continue to support local, state, and national bowhunting organizations.

I think that Skookum came from me, and it belonged to Smiley at one time. Good to hear it will see some time in the woods again!

To become more active in the Traditional Bowhunting community. Comptons, PBS and the Michigan Traditional Bowhunters. My other Tradsolution was to cut back on my bow buying for 2011, blew that one out of the water on day two of the new year. Just picked up a Tall Tines from Biggie   :)    :)    :)

I haven't forgotten this thread.

I just want to give it some more real hard thinking before I put it out there  where I would expect my friends would help to hold me accountable.

I made a resolution 20+ years ago and broke it yet. It was not to make anymore. I do talk about trad archery when I can.

I just won a new Stalker take down long bow. I would like to be able to shoot it well enough to fill my tags this year.....at least a bear and a turkey. It will be hard to lay my DAS with Border limbs to one side, but the new long bow has me intrigued.

I plan on using one of my short recurves during turkey season, now if I could only make up mind which one to use.

one goal is to use the primary feathers from one of the turkeys that I harvested for fletches on an arrow that I will use to harvest another this spring.

An elk with my trad bow this year.

A whitetail.

A mule deer.

A hog.

Maybe a Javelina if I can get down to Texas.

And pretty much anything else that gives me opportunity.
