After watching him feed, make a scrape and pee in it, work a licking branch and all, I decided I would take him if given the opportunity.I waited for quite some time for him to give me that quartering away shot that I swear is all Ill take from now on.When he finally struck the pose at about 15 yards I drew on him. He heard the slightest whisper of my fleece hood and made a 20 yard bolt.I was surprisingly calm and let down on the string to see what would come next.

With his body stone still he surveyed his surroundings attempting to see what had so rudely disturbed his kingdom. When he was satisfied he came back in and in about 5 minutes he was quartering away again.I wasnt going to let him beat me again, drawing in slow motion to prevent a repeat. I got to full draw and let the 125 grain Silver Flame go, taking him in his right rear flank and angling out of his off side shoulder.

He made a death run to the right of the pasture and all was deathly quiet. That is until I heard him coughing. He made it 100 yards or so into an open pasture where he came to rest for the last time.Amazing how when your in such a quiet environment how far such subtle sounds will carry. While waiting to track him I saw a lone yote head in his direction.I tried to squeak him in but never saw him again. I got nervous and started tracking him.

After finding him and saying a prayer I took some pics and returned to my stand. While waiting for my guide Robert I saw 2 more coyotes head in the same direction as the first and again tried to squeak and fawn bleat them in with no luck. A short time later when Robert did arrive I told him that we needed to track a doe as that was all he thought I was planning on shooting. When we got to where we could see the buck laying I said "Aint That A Strange Looking Doe?" He said a few things that I wont repeat and the high fiving and celebrating began. Yeah we high fived and Im not ashamed of it.Its how I show accomplishment and extreme joy and I was feeling it all at that moment. This was on New Years Day and the day before Larry gave me a pair of Chris' gloves.I was wearing them in that stand for the first time and I killed one of my biggest bucks ever as well as my first longbow buck.I hope he really was in that stand with me enjoying the show with a big ol grin on his face. Thanks Chris. Thats my story now lets hear some crazy ones.

That skull Terry just showed was pretty amazing! That buck lived long enough for that bone on the entrance side to completely heal over.  Pretty cool proof of how tough these critters are...

Thanx Charlie!

Before I knew it it, I was up in a familiar stand.  Two years ago, last time was at Solana, the last morning of the hunt I'd shot a doe out of this stand. I'd also hunted it one other time before on that trip, and also once the year before. I'd always seen plenty of game from this stand, hogs and deer...I climbed up with very high hopes...
•

I never get tired of the view from this stand...

Yep......and both would have 'The Final Say' soon....and the bow would have it a second time, along with another Z 4 Blade two days later.

It's awesome!   More on the KUIU clothing later.....but as you'll see in some of the pix to follow, the camo pattern absolutely devistates the human outline!
