A BIG CONGRATS  to Skyler if indeed it was Skyler  who took those pictures. Memories will fade and time will pass but awesome pictures will always remain to help relive a wonderful memory. Theres a lot here that would be lost in translation if not for some wonderful picture taking.

Take care of your brethren, capture their memories for one day they may be gracious and do the same for you.

I was full of emotion when I arrived to the buck.  I didn't even touch him for several minutes.  Robert was beside himself and says    " you gotta touch that buck man cause I want to touch it after wards".

I got a good laugh out of Roberts comment and bent down to take it all in.

Wayne....you are absolutely right.  Skyler saved the experience for us all.  Take lots of pictures guys.  When you think you have enough, take twice as many more.

After pictures and lots of talking we drug the deer to a near by grass road and Robert meet us there with the truck.

All along Skyler had been texting his dad.  Telling him, it "didnt look good"

When we arrived in camp. lots, if not most of the gang were hanging around outside of the main cook house.  As we pulled into the driveway.. i could see their faces as they were gaining focus on the back of the truck and the deer.  It was like all of a sudden, they saw it at once and a loud cheer went out.

Its all kinda blurry after we arrived.  Lots of hand shakes and hugs.  Posing for pictures and back slapping.

On a side note:  If you are interested in numbers...the staff of the ranch measured him  and they say he was 135 1/2 inches.

This is one of my favorite pictures of the night.

It was new years eve.  That was one heck of a way to end a year.  I stayed up much of the night, talking and reliving the experience.  Also spent a lot of time with Larry that night.  Heck, for the first time in months I even had a beer to celebrate the occasion.

Jack,

That's great.  What a beautiful buck.  Where did your arrow go?  Looks like it might have gone off his leg into his chest, but it's kind of hard to tell from that one picture.

Great story.  The way you are unfolding the stories it seems like you all might have planned it at that last night's dinner after the man shopping.    :biglaugh:   Fantastic series of events and great tales.  What a magnificent deer Jack, and Skyler's picts really help fill the tale. Now I'm waiting for the next installment of the Hog Fight II, the sequel.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Great buck, Jack!  Excellent job with pictres, Skyler!  One picture rarely does a buck justice.  Really like Robert's philosophy and I would definately respect that in a guide.  Good story, guys!

I heard Curt shoot....and then I heard Don holler...."Here he comes"!!!!!

Don went by me 1st, then I felt the breeze Curt created as he went by as I finished nocking my Zwikey.  I looked up to see the boar coming toward me, and I bowed up at him as I squared for a shot.

He veered and gave me the reverse position I had a couple of nights before....just needed to sneak this one by the left cheek.....which is exactly what I did.....again, with Chris' bow.

As the arrow struck the boar looked as though it had been electrocuted and he went into a convulsion and fell over dead....'dead as a hammer'.
