I had to get this done on the 13th, as that date signifies a day one month ago that I wish I could take back, but at least the news this date was "good" news -- no, it was "great" news!

Well I guess I've given it away   YAAAAHHHOOOOO!
How true of the above posts. After some investigating, Terry called me this afternoon.  When we hung up, I immediately rushed to my computer and turned it on to wait for the e-mail from Terry.  The minutes turned into hours, but they were worth the wait.  Terry told me that John had been up tracking a doe near to where I had shot at my buck.  The ranch hadn't taken as many does this past season so they have permits to take more does out of season to bring the doe to buck ratio in line.  Anyway just a short distance from where we had stopped tracking my buck, John stumbled upon a carcass.  It was a 7 point and from all indications it had been there about 2 weeks.

I just knew that I had a good hit on that 7 point that morning.  I have to say I was upset that our search for the deer ended up with no find that morning.  The blood trail looked so promising, and as I rode back to the ranch, I felt another feeling of loss, this one was no where as great and one that I knew I'd relive a few times and then forget.  One of the things that brought everyone out of the bunk houses was when the trucks started rolling in after the hunts.  Everyone wanted to see if anything was being brought in.  Although I didn't get to bring my deer back on the truck that morning and get pictures, I am so happy to know that my buck did fall to our arrow.

I need to say once again the time that I was able to spend with the Trad Gangers at this year's Solana New Year's hunt will forever be remembered.  Thanks to all for being there with me and for me!

This is ours bud!

Curt not sure if I'm more jealous of the KUIU or the buck..........better not air that stuff out on your back porch! I see we might be the same size.

Larry, I'm so glad you got to see those horns again!

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow’s effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

Fantastic!!!  :clapper:  I'm very glad to hear that you got the very well deserved conclusion to your hunt.  Great job to the fellas at Solana on finding him as well. Sending much love and prayers to you and your family, and congrats again Larry!

More on Curt's buck.

It just tickled me pink to hear Curt tell me 'Yes' with that big smile on his face when I asked that last morning.....'Did ya get anything'.....his smile gave it away before his words.

Curt and I have now killed bucks out of two stands at Solana....stands with great names and history.  "The Killin Tree"....and "The GrandStand"

Great job Curt....it's not easy shooting any deer out of that tree.....its a challenge in its self.

Way to go my friend!!!!!!!!     :clapper:      :clapper:      :clapper:

It has been so obvious throughout this thread that there was truly something special going on.  I've read every word of every page - it has been awe inspiring throughout. But now I can see that it was even more - this indeed involved higher powers beyond our normal comprehension. It completely blows me away!!

Congratulations to Larry & Curt, as well as each and every one of the rest of the crew. You are all blessed to have been a part of it and share a hunt with Chris at your side.  And thanks for letting us tag along.

Wowwwwwww! Again with a tale nearly too good to be true. Congrats Larry, that critter has some character. I could see that after your track ended you were upset by it. Glad its been concluded.
Curt, congrats on an old war horse and a veteran of several seasons. To see your buck close up was to see a deer of whose old age was clearly evident.

Congratulations Larry!!  It is special that the rest of your story came about while the tales of the Solana gathering were still unfolding.  Sorry that you were not able to find the buck the day of the kill, but maybe in some ways it is sweeter this way.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Great buck you got there Curt!!! Got to love those 160's!!! Keep your butt out of those cacti too.
Larry, congrats to you on a nice buck as well.

This trip looks to be very successfull in so many ways beyond the harvests. Well done by all.
