Not often you see Izzy smiling so much in a picture...we were kidding with the others about the chances of having 2 Puerto Ricans from NY in a hunting camp in Texas...and both of us killing bucks!

The whole crew minus Michael and Carlton, and one hog and one doe...

"GRAND" is a good word to describe it.One of my favorite all time hunts before I ever dropped a string on a critter. Curt, while 2 PRs in a bowhunting camp may be uncommon I think we should try for at least one repeat.

Indeed a grand adventure, and a job well done in the sharing of the event for those of us who couldn't be there.  I am still waiting to hear more of Michael's last day in the tripod.  Does cam e in and left on sound of a swallow, hardly rates a BS rating.  Having been there I know a swallow is certainly loud enough to spook the deer.  I want to hear the unbelievable part, no tease and leave     :readit:  .  Besides this thread has been one of my major drive as the dark and snow of winter in the north country has set in.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

The next best thing to being there.

I was finally able to get catch up w/ this thread.Lots of snow  means extra long work days.It seems that is the way this GRAND EVENT started.

Larry I am so glad that your buck was found.Congradulations

It does feel like a fitting end finding that buck later. Those that were there know that there was definatly a higher power hard at work.

I'll bet he was saving his best work until the end.

solana is a *GREAT* hunting ground that's made even better by the company of fine trad gangers that take the place over come january!  the camaraderie is as amazing as the hunting!  looking forward to round two of solana, jan 2012!

I couldn't keep up after about page 25,  but it is clear this was a special hunt for everyone.

Ok I just got caught up.

Wwow,Wow, Wow.
Congratulations Larry and Curt.  Larry I'm tickled you had some closure on your Buck.  Thats a relief I bet.  He looks to be a heavy horned ol'boy.  I bet he got the blood pumpin when he was under your stand.

Guru...what can I say.  You are "da-man"!!
Thanks for all the great vid and pics.  For some reason I found the "Heavy Eyelids" comment very funny.  I had never heard that one before. Must be a taxidermist thing.  Or maybe just a Leica Binocular thing.  Thems some darn fine glass.  :goldtooth:

"He didnt have a big rack but damn his eyelids were huge"!!!!

If you dont mind thats what I'll be saying from now on.   :D      ;)

Yes Randy, It's a taxidermist thing I guess.     ;)

From studying them, and learning from other that do as well.  It's true for deer(and other critters I guess), they get heavier, and get that saggin' older look to them...

Kinda like me

It's claer that this hunt was special one for all involved. Congrats to all who were successful. I guess that means everyone because from the read you can surely tell that an animal did not have to be taken for this gsthering to be successful for all involved. I hope to meet all you guys again somewhere in the future.

Take it easy,

Bisch
