Who Knows A&H ACS by Morrison Archery Bows?
« on: January 03, 2011, 08:09:00 PM »
A while back someone brought in a bow to trade. It was a bow that says "A&H ACS Custom built by Morrison Archery". I had not seen one before so was hoping someone could shed some light. I don't believe that there were many of them made so it's probably a pretty rare bow.

It's a great looking 58" longbow. It's a quiet, fast bow and shoots well. However the poundage is more than what an old man needs to shoot at 57# @ 28" I wonder if any were made in a lighter poundage.

Bob made the ACS design under agreement for OL Adcock for a period of time.

He used to set up booths at B'more and someone in our group bought one...

It was a standard "custom" deal so what you find is what's been made.
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

I used to own this bow. Man it is a shooter! Its one of the fastest bows I ever shot. I am not sure on this but I think there were only a few of these ever produced.

I owned one. It was a little touchy to set up, but shot well after.
If it's in your way, move it.

I contracted Bob to build a few bows for us several years ago.  I don't remember how many he did actually build but it wasn't very many.  Maybe 10 or 12?

Bob has always been and is still a good friend.  That's why I asked him to help with production.   Ultimately we both decided it would be best to handle production differently.  That's about the time that the new (and current) A&H was formed in Michigan.

Bob does beautiful work and the bow in question is certainly rare and a good one.

John, Bob also said that it was about 12 of these bows that were made. I sent it back to him because one of the limb tips looked a little damaged. He replaced both limb tips and refinished it. Now it's like new again.

I got the bow from Scott (Slayer 1) and someone else sent a pm with the serial number. I suppose he was the original purchaser so I'll contact him for any info he can provide. I love tracking down a bow's history.

I believe the limbs are double carbon over bamboo, and it was made in 2004.

I have Bob's bow, 60", 51# @ 26". The riser is macassar ebony, and I had Bob put some canebrake skins on the back. It is a screamer. Wish I could talk CG out of hers!

I'm thinking Charleton Heston and "cold dead fingers" here.

Dawn Patrol, is that a definite, or are you just guessing?

Hi Killdeer, that's a nice looking bow that you have also. You probably have that Charleston Heston and the "cold dead fingers" feeling also, regarading that nice bow of yours.

Dawn Patrol, when Killdeer said "Wish I could talk CG out of hers!", and you said something like "Lol, good luck with that", I then said "is that a definite, or are you just guessing?" What I meant was are you sure that CG wouldn't trade or sell her bow? I'd love to find a 48# bow of the same type.

I've shot this bow guys and she she is definitely a shooter. The arrows leave vapor trails behind them on the way to the target. Looks good too. If she were about 5 pounds lighter in draw weight, she would be residing at my house.......Randy
