Good short bow for 30 inch draw

I've changed my anchor and am drawing just under 30 inches now, and most of my old bows stack.

I'd like a nice hunting bow that is relatively short, but doesn't stack...I have a Centaur that I love, but it is just 58", and I'm probably going to have to move to the 60-incher.

I'm really looking for a takedown with a heavy riser in the 60" range that is really smooth out to 30 inches.

Also, I don't like the ILF or metal riser bows.  I like the feel of wood, and like my limbs bolted on.

I have about a 29.5" draw and love my 52" Cascade Nighthawk Mag. It has a Phenolic riser for the added weight you talked about.

He has a 2pc. and 3pc version of the Buffalo bow and you can get the Thunder Child in a 2pc.

Both bows would accomodate you're draw and you won't talk to a nicer guy or a find a nicer bow.

I strongly advise you to look into a Dwyer bow, specifically a Dwyer Endevor.  They are a sponsor here.  Dave is a great man to deal with, I would give him a call.  I have a legit 30 inch draw and can easily over draw over 31 inches.  I have shot the endevor ... no finger pinch, very slight to almost no hand shock, pretty quiet, good quicks.  Actually, the bow I shot was the protto type.  I have heard the production bows are quieter and faster, likely no hand shock.  Look into a Dwyer, they are built like bows two times their price.

I have a 30" draw and just recently picked up a dandy Ben Pearson Hunter of 58" AMO.  It's only 48#@28" but kicks them out nicely and only weighs 1lb 12oz.  Will make a sweet hunting bow.  No perceptable stacking and is light and maueuverable.  Surprisingly, no noticable finger pinch, either.  I like Martins but the Mamba, also 58", killed me when I tried one of 50#.  Fails only in your take-down feature.

Look up St. Joe River Bows.   http://stjoeriverbows.com/  
 They have a longer riser bow for added stability and there will be no problems with your draw length. I believe they can make you a 2pc takedown.    :thumbsup:

 If you wanted to go shorter, their 56 inch recurve handles a long draw with no problem.

Recurves with static or semi-static tips give a little better string angle for a longer draw with a shorter bow.  RER is one example.

If your looking for a heavy riser and a 60 inch bow a Talltines recurve is one I would consider.I draw 30 and its one of the smoother shooting bows for a long draw in that length bow that I have handled and has a substantial riser with alot of strength and mass weight packed into the riser!!!Its also a superb shooter with excellant performance.

60" Black Widow PSA or you could go to the PCH and a 58" or 60".  My draw is right around 30" and I've had no problems with these bows.  They have a demo program so you can try before you buy...Mike

You just described a 60"  Black Widow PSA-V (Ironwood riser) that I can vouch for as not stacking out to 30".  Other bows may meet that criteria as well, I just haven't found one yet.

Either Dan Toelke's 1 pc. Chinook or his Take down Curlew in 60" length will accomodate your draw length and then some. Both are superbly well mannered and exceptionally fast as well(they both love heavy arrows). The Chinook can be made as a 2 pc. take down utilizing the "Bow Bolt" system and in fact there is one on Dan's website  www.montanabows.com.  Click on "traditional recurves".

I shot Scott Mitchell's personal 56" Timberhawk premier recurve 3pc. takedown and it was as smooth as could be out to 30".  I think it was 57@28.  He has a try before you buy thing too.
