I was just wonderin how many of my fellow heels are gearin up to chase turkeys? We have hell's own amount of'um at the hunt club and no one turkey hunts lol. Sightings of 15-25 aren't uncommon, they have the run of the place.

Don't forget to save those feathers guys.  I will be out looking and listening as well.  Nothing like that sound first thing in the morning.

Looking forward to the spring season. Last year I saw lots but the big ones were spookier than normal and wouldn't call in close. I really did not want to shoot a jake so I passed. This year I'm hoping for a better hand.

I only got one gobbler this past spring and nothing this fall, so I'm gonna hit em hard this spring! I can't wait.

I'm working on a short take down R/D longbow just to fit my blind dimensions. I sure hope it works out the way I hope it will?
Otherwise it's back to building natural ground blinds and that takes away from being mobile.

Trying to get a blind to hunt out of this yr. Have not chased turkeys in several yrs - never have killed one. Like voodoo animal for me. Cant wait to hear one gobble!

The best thing you can do to up your odds Jdog is to do lots of scouting. Then set up in areas where the turkeys want to be. If you get behind them you will never kill one, get in front of them or better yet in between where they are and where they want to go......you will be bustin birds in no time.

Find their roost trees and their travel patterns to where they go after leaving the roost. Then set up in between along one of their travel routes. I've killed many turkeys this way and never even hit the call.
But there's nothing more exciting than calling a big ol tom in to ya and making him want to come to you, just the satisfaction of knowing that he came to you because you coaxed him in is a real adrenalin rush!
Get yourself a good call and start practicing with it now.

Yes - but I am working at getting "out of the blind" this year. Not in a stupid unproductive way either. Thinking to build 'back blinds' out of natural cover - then travel with a smaller front wall which will be a very light camo screen type finished with natural cover on the spot - sit in between them wearing a synthetic ghillie to - face and hands of course. I have been carrying WAY to much stuff with me last couple a springs. Also gobblers have been reacting to the blind (sometimes) - so I am tuning.I like the sheild for camoing your draw too - but I'm adding stuff alreay  :)  HA -- Going to focus on NC the middle 2 weeks only - gonna hit SC before then - probably stingrays after that.
