I have a pair of olive drab wool WWII pants that I wear when it is really cold. As for darkening the bag, that will happen, plus with use over the summer it will tone down considerably.

My next item up for thought is some kind of mountain man hat. During the warmer early season, I dress a little more lightly.    :)

Wannabe1, you could easily dye your haversack "as is" and without damage by throwing some black walnut hulls into a gallon of water and let it sit for a few days before tossing the haversack in.   A little bit of heat to the natural "dye" and occasional stirring will produce a nicely browned color that is "period correct".   Similarly, staghorn sumac berries and a few rusty nails produce a nice bark gray color.

Thanks Ken. I had the frock made a couple of years ago. The plains quiver is from our own Jeremy here on the site. It is made of elk leather and is one of the softest quivers I've ever used.
