Bowyer near Hornell, NY? (upstate)
« on: January 06, 2011, 10:56:00 PM »
Hello Tradgang!

I'm in the planning stages of my first bow build and wondered if anyone on tradgang may know of a bowyer in the Hornell, NY area? I'm about 1hr south of Rochester. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Google up Elkaholic Archery. Located in Ontario, NY (about 2 hrs. from you). Hope this helps.  Keith

I think there is a Bowyer in Rome.  Ed Mikuta.  If so it is an hour and 1/2 to the east.  I thought there was a bowyer out toward buffalo but am not sure.

Gerry Fiegel of North Wind Bows up near Buffalo makes bows but I think he is scaling back. Hornel is a nice area I was there today. Also shot a couple deer in Bishopville. Are you going to the New York bowhunters banquet in Syracuse ? The Wensel boys will be there so it a guaranteed good time !

Ed Mikuta is in Rome & makes wonderful bows. My first bow was a 3 piece TD recurve of his. I have owned & loved several bows since but would not sell that bow. Everytime I pick it up & shoot it I am amazed at how smooth it is. Love my Lost Creek longbow but that Mikuta is a great bow too.

I've got 3 of Ed's bows and 2 of his "kids" bows around the house.

Ed builds a wonderful bow and I'm sure you'll be VERY pleased with his work!!!!!   :bigsmyl:

He lives on Shed Road in Rome, I have the exact house number and his phone number if ya need it.

That's the one I was thinking of!

I dont know if it would do any good but you might also want to consider looking in PA.

If you want to check into Pa. Mike Robin(Bamboo here on TradGang) builds one of the best longbows that I have shot!!! "If" I ever buy another bow... It will be one of Mike's!!!!!

I don't have his address, but he lives down in the Deleware Gap. A quick search should turn up his contact info.

Another plug for Ed Mikuta.  I have a takedown recurve by him that I got my first trad buck with this year.  I will never part with that bow.
