Who else owns a RER LXR or has owned one????
« on: January 08, 2011, 10:34:00 AM »
I'm sitting here this weekend, not because I'm lazy, but I once agin pulled a muscle in my back...I really need to start acting my age...and got to thinking about my RER bow.  Ihave the LXR which is a longbow/recurve takedown combo, and I have only shot the longbow limbs so far-and love them.  Performance is what I have always wanted, and it's a bonus that it is a takedown.  I have always wanted a take down for travel purposes when I eventually get to hunt out of state.

My question before I get off subject and go into something else...now I'm acting my age...Both sets of limbs I have make up a 64" longbow and a 64" recurve.  If any of you that have a similar setup, and have shot both sets of limbs, which set do you prefer, and is the performance of both sets comparable?  I guess what I really want to know is does your aim stay the same or not, how is the arrow speed, is there noticeable noise difference between both sets of limbs?

Thanks all for taking the time to read this.

Mike,
Performance wise I can't tell a difference. My limbs are the same poundage and I shoot the same arrows with each combination. I have 60" longbow limbs and 58" recurve limbs. I got the combo so I could shoot the different classes at the shoots and not have any grip changes from different bows.

On the noise factor it is on par with what you are used to I suppose on longbows vs recurves. One of the advantages of RER's design is the static tips resulting in very little string contact.

I bought the bow used, but you would never know it by seeing it. I was perfectly happy paying what I did for just the longbow, then after I found out that it came with recurve limbs too it was like I just hit the jackpot.  I've had the bow for 3 months now, and think I have found the last bow I will ever need to buy.

Thanks for selling me the bow Don if you are reading this.  I have plenty of trips in mind that it will be joining me on.

I've been thinking about that set-up. Can you use the same string for the LB and RC limbs?
Thanks-Hap

More than likely not due to the different limb size/design, and each set came with a string already.  I have a back up for the longbow, now I just need to make one up for the recurve limbs.

I'm hoping they will have a takedown longbow or two at the K-Zoo show. Really would like to shoot one.

I'm pretty sure you could bet on that.  They trully make an amazing bow.  I was perfectly happy with the last one (non-RER) I had till I had the opportunity to shoot this one (a RER).  Now it is the only one I shoot.

I have a 64" LX (longbow limbs) and a 62" XR (recurve). Rather than one riser with two sets of limbs I have two separate bows, each within a pound of each other in draw weight.

I can switch back and forth between the two bows with no problems. Same arrows, and no problem going back and forth.

I also have a second heavier set of longbow limbs that Kevin just finished and I will be picking up this weekend. They are great shooting bows!

Do you see any advantage to using one over the other?
