Enjoyed these Fellers company.I really like the people I meet on these hunts. So far they have all been good Folks.

I always have a fear of taking Folks hunting that have traveled a long way and bombing out. Not seeing anything. Not the case on this trip or any other for that matter. I met CJ at 7:00 on Tuesday Morning and by 8:30 we were looking at pork in the swamp. I don`t want to tell these fellers tales for`m so maybe they`ll get on with it.
I will say that Winter time is the worst time to get after pork here. I`m sure Ray will vouch for this as well but a fella will get chances and shots . We had planned this hunt for Sept/Oct but due to work CJ asked to come later and that was good for me. actually worked out for the better because I tore my Calf muscle about that time.

I will say this. CJ and I got on one of the top 5 Big Boars I`ve ever been on in the swamp. Steve had pork at....5 yards and we all had fun .The beauty of these hunts I do on public land is that both of these fellas can come back as many times as they want till next year for just the price of gas. Tags run for a year to the date they were bought. From now till around Nov it only gets better then the deer hunting pressure makes it tough.Good Friends made on this trip that I look forward to hunting with again.
I am gonna post a swap hunt on that forum if any of you guys are interested. RC

Big pigs at dusk look just like big logs at 30 yards even to the a swamper. Until they turn sideways and the big log turns into a big, big pig.

Yep....i had pork at 5 yds.... ran a bunch into a thicket....had sows hollern on both sides of me at 5 yds...too bad i couldnt see them... Just a black outline in the brush that looked like a blob... The pigs were squirting thru a 3 foot path  from one side of the thicket to the next... they were on the move and 1 little guy decided to stop and face me.....Lesson #1 to a hog hunting newbie.......If a small one faces you at 10 yds.... drill it ...... little booger squirted back in the thicket and that was my only decent shot opportunity of the night....... But being surrounded by 30 pigs in a thicket with low light, with boars bumpin sows and hollern loud enough to make you deaf had this michigan boy checkin his drawers on the way back to the truck.   :)

I wa stationed at Ft. Stewart back in the 60's before we were sent to Vietnam. Never saw any hogs but the snakes were terrible.

Sounds like a great time. Keep it coming!

RC showed us hog spots through out the base that were really rooted up and we saw pigs every day. As Robert said, this was about the worse time of year to go but it looked pretty good to Steve and I. On Thursday not to far from where RC and I saw pigs the first day I spot 10 or so hogs doing there thing in a thicket. I was by myself and they let me get to within 25 yards and one about 50lbs walks out to look me over. From my knees, 25 yards broardside and the arrow goes over his back. At least I got some shooting in.

Later that day at about sun down, Steve was working a herd when I bumped into him as I was heading to the truck. A pile of hogs were in a field close to the road so I hot footed it out to the road and down a ways just as they were crossing. Two long shots as they scooted across were both high again. Dang that was fun.

Sounds like a great time.  The only hogs I ever see have wannabees in leather vests riding them.

You could substitue the word Hanesville for just about any U.S. City name.

Just a presumption on my part, but I would say that deer hunters have the hogs all spooked and not easily paterened
