A special new bow (New pics added on page 2)
« on: January 09, 2011, 11:27:00 PM »
I've been meaning to put up pictures of my first new custom bow but I've been shooting it and not taking pictures of it:)  This bow is special to me because it represents a 10 year long goal and achievement.  I promised myself that I'd get a new bow if I ever finished it.  I'd like to thank Vermonster and Wannabe1 for helping me get going with used bows that helped me decide on exactly what I was looking for in a new one.  I have had and shot several used Horne bows and loved them.  I paid Mark and Sandy several visits over the years and decided I wanted to have him make this special bow for me.  When I stopped by to let him know I was ready to have him build me a bow I was set on the brush bow with longbow limbs.  He showed me one of the first Flint Quest models he had made.  The riser was even closer to what I was looking for than the brush bow.  I wanted bacote in the limb veneers and only cocobolo in the handle so it's technically not the flint quest but it's the flint quest design.  It's a 3 piece T/D with longbow limbs,  60", 50# @ 28 .  This bow is extremely smooth, fast, and quiet.  I couldn't be happier with the bow and wanted to share it with you guys.  The pics have been taken with my iPhone so they won't do it justice but they're better than nothing and I'll try to get some more up.  If you’re in the market for a new bow I'd definitely check it out, and you won't find better folks to work with than Mark and Sandy.  It’s been a pleasure for me and my wife to stop by and talk with them over the past few months.  Here’s a few pictures of “Doc”.

Very nice - worth all it took to achieve the goal no doubt.

Thanks guys.  I'll take it down and take some pics today that will do it justice.  But what I can't show you is how great it shoots!  I hit the 3D range with it this last weekend and had one of the better rounds of my life.  It's really smooth on the draw with no stacking.  I have taken a rabbit with it but I'm taking it out this weekend for hogs and doe/anterless.

Thanks TW.  I loved that brush bow and thought that was perfect, but I have to say he's out done himself with this one.  The handle is slimmer but still with the medium low grip and the long bow limbs are as fast as the recurve.  Incredibly efficient and smooth.  You'll have to find some one near you to let you shoot one.  I think they have a test one they'll send you if you just wanna buy a new one:)
