Carbon Express for my BW

Which shaft size ( caron express heritage ) should I use with my PSAX 50 lbs @ 28 in. . I want the arrow to be in the 500-600 grain range and no longer than 30 in.

I just posted a CE question last week or so.

I am shooting a PL at 45# @ 28" with an arrow at 29.5"   Mine came out between the 90's and the 150's with weight etc.  Just need to play a bit.

OK so for your set up (check the cal) but I would thing 150's and some weight would work real well.  

If you are not locked into the CE's you might want to look at the AD's in the trad size.

What is your draw length?

I shoot a lighter spine arrow in my PCH than what the calculator comes up with.  The calculator hits right on my cut out from center bows, but on the BW I can shoot a much lighter spine just fine.  I get great bare shafts and  nice bullet holes in paper.

My draw length is right at 28 like 27 3/4 so i draw 49 to 50 lbs . for some reason the calculator wont download on my crappy laptop .

BRITTMAN, I'm shooting 250's out of mine with 145 gr. field tips. My arrows are 30" long and fly great for me. Same set up as yours...

I shoot the 150's outta mine w/ 200 gr up front.
53@28", but I draw her around 29ish and my shafts are 31 if I remember....I'd have to measure...  I'm getting great flight outta them.

The calculator says I need an 80# spine, but I shoot a 60# just fine.  Looks like it says you need about a 73# spine.  A 29" CE250 will work with the right amount of point weight.  I would start with a 30" and play with point weight until you get it tuned.  Then cut a little and up the point weight if you like until you get to where you want with length and overall arrow weight. You could go over 600 a little if you want to get your arrow lenth down.

I shoot about 55@29 1/2" and shoot a 30 1/4" GT5575 with 100 gr. insert and 100 gr. point.  My CE250 are about 30.5" with 100 gr. insert, and I think 125 gr. points.

BW said I should be shooting a 250 cut to 30 - 30 1/2 with 100 grain insert and 125-150 point but that seemed stiff to me . Several good archers recommened the same set up but with the 150s . I havnt shot carbon since my compound days which was a long while ago and im kind of behind on the carbon setups for tradbows .

The 250s with 250 grains up front might get you where you want Mike cut to 30.5-31.Arrow would weigh about 600 grains with nocks and fletchings.

I shoot Heritage 250s with 200 up front out of bows around 50#s at 30 inches draw.Arrows cut to 30.5-31".50 grain brass insert and 150 grain head.

That would be a wicked hunting arrow and shoot quietly.

you could get a CX 150 to work as well cut shorter and with less weight up front.

I like the 250s and the heavy arrow personally for hunting.

I shoot 2 PLs, a PSR and an MA all are between 55# & 59# at my draw length of 28.5". I have been shooting Heritage 250s cut to 29 1/8" with standard inserts and 200 gr. heads.

I would concur that you could make 150s or 250s work but if you want high mass weight you would be better with 250s.

I shoot a 58" PSAV 51@28.  I pull right about 50lbs and shoot either 28.5 inch Heritage 150's with a 175 grain tip  or  29.25 inch Beeman Axis wood grains with 175 grain tip.  8 3/4 brace.  Hope that helps point you in the right direction.

I have several BW's in that weight range and shoot 150's cut at 30 1/4 ... I shoot 145 grain field points and 150 grn broadheads and aluminum inserts. I can shoot 250's out of them also but just a bit on the stiff side and weight up front fixes that ... I would go with 150's first

I have a bw psax that i draw to 55#. I bareshafted carbon express 250 full length arrows with 175 grain up front, and they shoot great. I tried bareshafting the carbon express 150, but they were all to weak with 175 grain up front. I think you will need the 250's.

I think you would need to shorten the 150's a great deal to stiffen them up, I cut them down but ran out of arrow for my 31.5 draw length. Shoot the 250's

I shoot a Black Widow 52lbs @28" draw, my draw length is closer to 27.75" as well. I shoot the CE Heritage 150s cut to 28.5", 50grain inserts, and 125 grain heads. I also have a Black Widow Wrap AND a Black Widow Clear Protetive wrap with 3-5" Shield Feathers. My arrows weigh 535 Grains and fly spot on. I think you would be fine with a similar configuration. However, I will say that like me you're right on the bubble of being "in-between" shaft sizes. I can't shorten my shafts up any more, nore can I remove the wraps, and if I add weight to the nock end or remove weight from the front-end my F.O.C. gets lower than I desire. To go up to the 250s adds more weight and length than I want out of 51-52lbs. Lots of details to consider that fall in line with "preference". Either shaft will work, but the arrow dynamics will be different with each. If you wanted to stick with Carbon Express Heritage, which I prefer, I'd go with something similar to my set-up (150s). If you feel you need stiffer, I'd probably pursue Gold-Tips because they are lighter weight for a similar spine... You can never go wrong by purchasing one tuning shaft of each and going through the bareshaft tuning exercise to dial in a specific arrow set-up, THEN purchase your full dozen shafts and components with confidence.

There definitely is a BUBBLE at about that poundage and draw length. Depending on your plate padding the string you use and your FORM.

Personal experience had me with the 250's. 150's where all over the place and I was spending too much time tweaking.
After taking Rod Jenkins clinic and working his program I decide to retry the 150's. I was able to bring them right in. Hindsight it was not the arrow but my form.
