This pic doesn't show off the shedua very well but it is a start.  It is shedua and zebra wood.

This is the 3rd mentioning of Shedua that I have seen in 3 days. I know absolutely nothing about this wood and have been interested.

I actually saw this on the BamaBows site when I was ordering my Expedition and considered going with that option.

Good quality Shedua, especially in 8/4 has become extremely difficult to find. I've searched high and low without success so if anyone knows of a good source please let me know.

Ric,  all good wood is getting harder to find, especially in quantity.

Check your PM's.

"Ric, all good wood is getting harder to find, especially in quantity."

Boy, you've got that right Lamey!  Shedua used to be readily available and inexpensive, at least in regards to other quality riser woods.  I believe one reason for the shortage of alot of the woods is that they are being bought up by luthiers.  Good Macassar ebony is another example, although its currently easier to find Ebony than it is Shedua.

AdamH, I apologize for hijacking your thread...I'll quit complaining now.   :-)

I have a pristine 1968 Kodiak Magnum that has probably the prettiest Shedua I have ever seen, awesome figure that looks almost metallic under the light. I'll try and get some pics up of it later.

I bought a 8/4 board last year, enough to make 4 longbow risers, I reshaped this riser after pics were taken

One of my most liked bow woods.Made alot of bows with shedua in the past.Kinda hard to get my hands on it these days here in California.Sure makes a good looking bow and goes with alot of other bow wood nice.

I talked with Beth Windauer about Dave  building me a Silvertip like in their picture and was told that they are having a hard time finding shedua that is that dark. I'm holding off on ordering for now. I may have to go with another wood choice such as walnut.
